  2.  Observe the site’s layout. If it’s sloppy or poorly done, if there are several grammatical or spelling errors, or if the images appear photoshopped, it’s fake.
  3.  Fact check: Cross-check with multiple news sources that are well-known for being reliable.
  4.  Reverse-search images. If the same image appears with unrelated news stories, it’s not a real image (or the story is fake).
  5.  Look for author info. If their credentials are inconsistent or nonexistent (or needs registration to view), they’re unreliable.
  6.  Look at the publishing date: if it’s got a strange date, lacks one, is "breaking news" or is "a developing story", look again. It's fake.
  7.  If what you're reading makes you feel "over-the-top" emotions, it's probably fake. Real news is supposed to be unbiased and neutral.
  8.  If the news is "paraphrased", "summarized", "shortened," or "simplified", it's unreliable. Make sure you have as much info on a subject as you can before trying to "teach others" by sharing the news.
