He was executed in 1945 for pronouncing these beliefs. He was most well known for his verbal opposition to Hitler's beliefs on euthanasia and the genocidal persecution of Jews. He was arrested in April 1943 by the Gestapo and imprisoned at Tegel prison for one and a half years. Later he was transferred to a Nazi concentration camp.
