I prefer to study abstract theory and from there I prefer to visualise it and try to make connections. Sometimes I like to ask older students who know about the subject and see what kind of tricks they might have to understand certain stuffs

I think mathematics should have a context before the concepts are given. Usually we are taught formulas and problems without any context, and after that it might be harder to understand what connexions it have with the world. F.e. if you want to build a table you need to learn first how to use a hammer, but in the way maths are taught, you learn to use a hammer for no reason, and it's not simple to understand "why should I use a hammer, if I'm not using it for anything"

Motivate students more, so they're not so afraid of learning maths. Do not make them memorize formulas and other things which they can just look up in the books, rather make them truly understand it and teach them WHERE to look for the formulas.
