Socially, plants typically enhance a ‘space’
and provide a serene and inviting place for us humans to interact with each other and nature, as well as escape the monotony of urban life. Even in the confines of our homes, the simple house plant provides interaction with nature.  In addition, they provide much of the material used to create the structures seen in the background of this image.
     Environmentally, plants provide was with sustenance. Plants are both the food we eat or are eaten by the other animals we eat. They filter the air we breathe, providing us with the oxygen we require to live. The also filter and clean much of the water we drink, another requirement for our life. Lastly, they provide home and shelter for all of the other life forms of this planet.
