         <title>Traian Lalescu                         (1882-1929)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>His main focus was on integral equations and he contributed to work in the areas of functional equations, trigonometric series, mathematical physics, geometry, mechanics, algebra, and the history of mathematics. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Paris in 1908. His dissertation, <em>Sur les équations de Volterra</em>, was written under the direction of Émile Picard. In 1911, he published <em>Introduction to the Theory of Integral Equations</em>, the first book ever on the subject of integral equations.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div> Romanian mathematician, computer pioneer, and member of the Romanian Academy. His research was mainly in the fields of mathematical logic, algebraic logic, MV-algebra, and differential equations. He is viewed as the father of computer science in Romania. Moisil was also a member of the Academy of Sciences of Bologna and of the International Institute of Philosophy. In 1996, the IEEE Computer Society awarded him posthumously the <em>Computer Pioneer</em> Award.</div>]]></description>
