The whole of the UK is divided into 650 constituencies (or political areas). On election day, people will go to a voting booth to deposit their ballot to elect an MP (Member of Parliament). The MP will represent its political party.
When the polling stations close, each constituency will count the votes for each party. The candidate with the most votes will represent its party as a Member of Parliament.
Then all the MPs throughout the constituencies get counted and the party with the most parliamentarian seats gets elected. Its leader will then become the new Prime Minister.
