To realize the vision, the Equity and Opportunity Committee will:

 
Develop a culture of acceptance and respect and move beyond tolerance to embracing and celebrating diversity

 
Challenge and support faculty, staff, students, and community members to understand how various cultural backgrounds, life experiences, challenges, and orientations affect student learning 

 
Identify barriers in our current policies, procedures, systems, or practices that limit opportunities for our students and take corresponding actions towards removing those obstacles

 
Increase community engagement through parent education, increased opportunities for volunteerism, and authentic decision-making

 
Strengthen community partnerships:  parents, health and social service agencies, community organizations, businesses, and universities, to better address the needs of students and families.  %
