Claim
- The sport fish population in Lake Grace decreases in size due to population growth of the town.
Evidence
- The construction of hotels and restaurants increase from 1985-1989
- From 1940 to 2000, the Aidanville people population increased from 1,587 to 3,824
- In 2001 farmers created a large hog farm due to population pressures
Reason
- More people in the cities causes more pollutants contaminating the water. People come to visit the city resulting in fishing more in Lake Grace, resulting in the fish population to decrease. The creation of the hog farm caused more pollution from animal waste.

Claim: The sport fish population of Lake Grace is decreasing due to the increase in human population and construction of different infrastructure.
Evidence:
- From 1940 to 2000, the Aidanville population went from 1,587 to 3,824.
- By 1989, a total of five more hotels and five more restaurants were created.
-In 1981, Two Rivers State Park is completed and opens for use. It includes a public boat launch which was built for the large number of anglers coming to the lake to fish.
Reasoning:
- As the population increased to 3, 824, the people in Aidanville needed more resources like food which caused them to go fishing and hunt for sport fish. Also there is a chance that, there might be heavy contamination in waters due to the very high population.
-Due to the introduction of hotels and restaurants in 1989, the hotels needed food like fish to feed the people in the hotel. Due to how easy people can hunt fish, it probably caused hotels to make fish their primary meal.
-Since the Two Rivers State Park was created, it encouraged more people to fish and feed their family causing a decrease in the sport fish population. It can also help make subsistence families get fish very easily and quickly.

Claim: The population of the fish is decreasing in Lake Grace because of an increased amount of nitrates in the water.
Evidence: The increased nitrates are causing algae to grow in the lake. Algae is increasing due to loss of amphipod. The legal size limit for catching fished is not being regulated because fishers are catching larger fish than they are legally allowed to catch.
Reasoning: Due to an increase in algae blooms and the loss of the maccarus amphipod the fish population has continued to increase over the past years. This because of a loss of quality oxygen in the lake water and the continued growth of more algae thus continuing the cyclical decrease in oxygen and fish population. The fishers are also catching more fish than the legal size limit allows, which decreases the population of the fish.

Claim:
The population of sport fish in Lake Grace is decreasing in size due to the less habitable water quality.
Evidence:
-->In 2001, small farmers who own land near the lake stopped raising their own crops; selling their land to developers.
--> In 2000, the population of Aidanville reaches close 4,000.
-->The Aidanville city council begins to use herbicides in 2004.
Reason:
--> As the small farmers sold their land to developers they started using high intensive agriculture which lead to an increased use of fertilizers. Using fertilizers results in increased levels of nitrate and phosphate; these levels of nitrates doubled from 2000-2002. The use of herbicides by the city council leads to high levels of triclopyr; in 2004 these levels of triclopyr exceeded the level that is safe for organisms. Due to the population increase of Aidanville, the pollution from the residents kills off more sport fish.

Claim: The sport fish population of Lake Grace is decreasing due to the increasing water hyacinth population.
Evidence: The water hyacinth was first found in 1998 and the population of it continues to grow.
Reasoning: When water hyacinths are introduced they cover lakes and ponds entirely which blocks water flow and sunlight. This likely led to the population of daphnia decreasing dramatically. Since the sport fish feed mostly on daphnia they have their food source taken away which causes them to die and reduce their population.

Claim: The population of sport fish of Lake Grace is decreasing due to the decrease in water quality.
Evidence:
- After 2004, when they started using herbicides, the population of all fish went down rapidly
- Over the last 20 years, the pH decreased steadily to 5.8
- After 1999, the phosphate levels in the water increased rapidly, causing an algae bloom and eutrophication and decreased the dissolved oxygen in the water
Reasoning:
- There was not much decrease of fish population before 2004
- Low pH can kill or sterilize fish
- Decreased dissolved oxygen would leads to hypoxia and asphyxiation
