Innovating Sepsis Summary

Sepsis is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and I’ve seen firsthand how delays in early recognition cost lives. I took on a challenge testing in two different healthcare facilities—one, a large hospital in Edinburg, TX, where I still work, and another, a nursing home in Carlsbad, NM. Both had high-risk patients, and both needed profound changes in how sepsis was handled. The integration of technology, like Cerner and informatics teams, in sepsis detection offers opportunities for advanced technological solutions like predictive analytics, once two Sir’s are identified the system alerts the nurse and provider. Technology evolves predictions based on patient data, vital signs, lab results, and become more precise at identifying septic patients before overt symptoms arise. Early detection for symptoms like SIRS, systemic inflammatory response, would trigger two abnormal results specifically, on organ dysfunction. Either an elevated heart rate over ninety, temperature above 100.9, evaluated white blood cell count over 12,000 or below 4,000, and the sepsis team is alerted to respond and aid the nurse and Dr. in early identification, documentation, and follow the patient through the hospital stay.

(Meet the Sepsis team)

Early detection exceeds the benefits. The purpose is to recognize early intervention to save more lives. This is a subject I love! I educated and personally accessed and fixed in two different healthcare facilities. One being in my hometown, where I still work, Edinburg TX, a hospital with over 350 beds. The second with our most fragile population, a nursing home with 188 beds in New Mexico, The concept works to detect early interventions on pts presenting with Severe Sepsis or Septic Shock

I can evaluate and see patterns. Love to see everyone succeed .

2. Strategic- I Always Have At least three options in mind so I can adapt if circumstances change. Everything has a solution I always say. I always look at the positive side. What has been successful to me is having an open mind, and able to see different point of views to see the problem they see, then finding a solution.

3. Achiever- I bring motivation to get things done. I don't know the meaning of being "stagnant" nor is there ever a dull moment with me. I can literally be tossing and turning in bed until I find a solution. I always say 'Stay away from negative people, they have a problem to every solution"

5. Ideation- My mind is usually bursting with ideas because i can see many approaches to a problem.
