1. A burden is either a heavy load physically or mentally, or the main theme of an idea. an example is "They carried their burdens"
2. Kipling views those being imperialized as, they don't want to be but they're being forced by the imperialists. Yes I believe so because imperialists don't care about other cultures and believe they are superior.
3. Kiplings views of imperialism are negative and I agree because I believe every culture should strive in their own way.
4. According to Kipling, the "white man's burden" means let the white people be in full control of other countries

Pro-imperialism Political Cartoon:

In this political cartoon it shows American, German, and Russian imperialists coming to the Philippines to take over. America is represented by Uncle Sam who is holding the gates open for other countries to invade while in reality America has another plan and ends up taking the Philippines over. The bags their holding and the flag in the back represent the countries cultures and shows that those countries are coming to force their cultures on the Philippines. This is pro-imperialism because it shows how American succeeded in annexing the Philippines.

In this political cartoon it shows Uncle Sam exaggerated in size to show he is a giant that is able to carry a giant warship. It also says "war" very big to show how important war was for America to gain more land. This is anti imperialist because the cartoonist believed America and the war was over-exaggerated in trying to take over a bunch of countries.

The main reason the US annexed Hawaii was for expanding its economy and securing national interests. Another reason was because after the death of King Kalakaua, Queen Liliuokalani wanted to restore the monarchy which would not be in favor for the US because there would be less US influence. Another reason is because Hawaii is in strategic ground for military purposes and Britain had their eyes on it.
