The Seventh Amendment guarantees the right to a speedy civil trial, for affairs that do not include criminal charges. The Chatham County Court House is a courthouse in Chatham County where you can appeal civil court cases. James Madison wrote this amendment to avoid a second Constitutional Convention, since people wanted a speedy civil trial in the Bill of Rights.

The tenth amendment is as follows: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." This amendment comes from the fear of a strong federal government and the need for a safety net to prevent that from happening. These things are provided by this amendment because it ensures that the federal government is not granted any more power than what is expressly stated in the Constitution.

The ninth amendment guarantees that all powers not stated, but also not denied in the Constitution, belong to the States. In Griswold v. Connecticut the Supreme Court ruled that the ninth amendment protects the right of marital privacy. Planned Parenthood provides people with birth control, education, medical procedures and checkups, and more. The document that influenced this amendment the most, was the Federalist Papers. The founding fathers wanted to create a strong divide between Federal and state power but also wanted to make sure the Federal government did not become too powerful. The ninth amendment works as a safety net for the states.

Atwater law firm makes money off of this, as they legally represent their clients in court. The Second Amendment drew influence from the English Bill of Rights.

The fourth amendment protects from improper search and seizure and requires the police to have a warrant or probable cause. Brittany Taylor Allman was in a car with two friends and was stopped by the police. The police searched the car, and found 8.1 ounces of marijuana; they believed Allman was a drug dealer and searched his home (4844 Acres Drive, Wilmington). Allman went to court and used the fourth amendment against the evidence found at his house, stating that the police did not have a warrant or probable cause. The amendment was influenced by the Townshend Act which had allowed the British to seize any smuggled goods. The colonists did not want to have their property searched, or taken, without reason.

The eighth amendment guarantees no cruel or unusual punishment. The Chatham County Detention Center holds a maximum of 2000 inmates; it prioritizes the safety of its inmates. The eighth amendment was very heavily influenced by the English Bill of Rights. The English Bill of Rights guaranteed individual rights to its citizens which the Bill of Rights works to do as well. This is important because people want to make sure that judges are setting fair bail and punishments proportional to the crime committed.

According to the third amendment, the government cannot use the private property of citizens without their consent. This was formed because, at the time of the Bill of Rights' creation, the United Kingdom was forcing American colonists to house and take care of their soldiers, much to their annoyance. The Americans wanted to make sure that in their new government, this would not happen again.

The First Amendment guarantees the freedom of speech, religion, press, assembly, and petition. This place is where the Greensboro Sit-in occurred, on February 1, 1960. This event was when four African American students refused to give their seats to white citizens at a whites-only bar. This is the location the bar was located before it was moved to the National Museum of Natural History to retain it's historical value. Voltaire is an Enlightenment thinker that believes in freedom of speech and religion, which ties into the First Amendment rights.
