Hermia

In act 1, she loves Lysander but her father wants her to marry Demetrius so she agrees to meet in the forest with Lysander and run off. Sleeps in the forest far apart from Lysander due to her request. After her and Helena get into a fight about the men, Hermia goes to sleep and when she wakes she finds that Lysander was turned back and forgot about Helena and loves her again. "O me! you juggler! you canker-blossom! You thief of love! What, have you come by night and stolen my love's heart from him". (3.2.282-284) Hermia accusing Helena of stealing Lysander.

Lysander

In love with Hermia so far in act one, but Egeus wont allow him to marry her so they plan on running off together. While in the forest with Hermia sleeping far apart a love spell is casted upon him by Puck which makes him fall in love with Helena. After fighting with Demetrius for Helena's love he also gets tired out by Puck in the forest and he gets an antidote put on him that make him forget he "loved" Helena and it makes him think it was just a dream. He gets married to Hermia at the end as they truly love each other. An important quote from Lysander is "The course of love never did run smooth" (1.1.134)

Demetrius

Was once in love with Helena but now Egeus, (Hermia's father) wants him to marry his daughter Hermia. He despises Helena and does not care about the attention given to him by her. Oberon watches them quarrel and decides to do something about it. After being tired out in the forest by Puck, he has the love spell put upon him in sleep so he can love Helena, which works and him and Helena "love" each other for the rest of the play. They end up getting married but represent one sided love. "O helen, goddess, nympyh, perfect, divine!" (3.2.140) This is the moment Demitrius is under the spell and shows.

Helena

Not really loved by anybody in act one but loves Demetrius and is obsessed with him and they almost got married before. After Puck makes his mistake Lysander and Demituris are both in love with her for a while and she thinks they're mocking her. After Lysander gets turned back, Only Demitruis loves her and they "love" each other. They get married in the end but her love being genuine and Demetrius' love being fake and only due to a spell. "Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; And therefore is wing'd cupid painted blind". (1.1.234-235)

Theseus

Engaged to hippolyta because he beat her in a battle. Him and Hippoltya are not shown much but in the end they seem to have a better relationship and they are talking and laughing during the play one important quote from him is "the lunatic, the lover, and the poet are of imagination all compact (5.1.7-8)

Engaged to Theseus because she lost in battle, she is a part of the amazons which is a women's only powerful group. At the end of the play her and Theseus seem to have a stronger relationship as she is more talkative and laughing. "Four days will quickly steep themselves in night; Four nights will quickly dream away the time" (1.1.7-8)

Oberon

King of the ferries and is married to titania and they have a toxic relationship. Was the one who told Puck to cast the spell on a man wearing Athens clothing. He also tells Puck to cast a spell on his wife Titania. After the situations with both he gives both an antidote to make things go back to normal. "I'll met by moonlight, Proud Titania." (2.1.62)

Titania

Married to Oberon but has a friend who is a Indian boy and she knew his mom. After fighting with Oberon a lot mainly about the Indian boy who Oberon wants Oberon gets mad and puts the love spell on her so she loves whoever she is awakened to. Eventually she is awoken to the sound of Bottom singing, Bottom now as an ass head and Titania are in "love" and they do things together. After the spell is taken off of Titania her and Oberon kinda make up. "The fairyland buys not the child of me" (2.1.122)

Puck (Robin Goodfellow)

A ferry who is a bit of a trickster and follows Oberon around a lot. Was supposed to get Demitrus with the spell but got Lysander instead. He turns Bottom into an ass before Titania "fell in love" with him. He corrects his mistakes with Lysander and Demitrius and gives an antidote to Lysander so he loves Hermia again and gives Demitrius the love potion. So he loves Helena and Lysander loves Hermia. Puck as Robin in the end gives a speech to the audience that basically says if you didn't like the play it's okay think of it all as a dream. "Lord, what fools these mortals be" (3.2.115)

Nick Bottom

Apart of the actors and playing the main lead as Prymus, while in the forest the elf's put the ass head over his head and his friends run away in horror and him and Titania do some things together because she was under spell due to Oberon being mad at her. After he is returned to his human form he comes back to the actors and they continue doing their play. "I have had a most rare vision. I have had a dream past the wit of man to say what dreams it was". (4.1.203-204)

Peter Quince

Directing the actors to rehearse the play of Pyrmus and Thisbe. Him along with the other actors run away from bottom when he is turned into an ass. He, along with the rest of the actors also agreed that Nick Bottom was the greatest man in Athens. When the nobles agree to do their play for their wedding he jumps and screams a lot with excitement. "If we shadows have offended think but this, and all is mended, that you have but slumber'd here while these visions did appear" (5.1.423-426)
