Asking the right questions and at regular intervals

In the Intro, outline what will happen and what the students can expect to have gained of value by the end (why they should stay and listen to you)

Know and observe your audience - tailor the level of details to their level.

For software demos, explain the overall conceptual thing we want to accomplish before you say "press this, press this, then press that".
