I also wanted to add in my discussion, somewhat close to what you had said about the theme;

A theme represented in The Dare is white privilege. It shows me this on pages 16-17 when Veronica is first nervous to accomplish her dare, however when noticing that she got away with stealing just as the other boy did, she takes advantage of this and steals even more. This passage, says exactly this: " Before Veronica could even think what to say, he patted her hair lightly and walked on, up the steps and into the house." It later says, "Grabbing a branch above her, she snapped off four more stems, careless of the sticky sap. -- She might even take the gang some oranges." This shows me that before she knew how high power she was, Veronica was scared of her trespass, however after learning her power she abused it. Stealing more and more, Veronica realized her privilege. How will this evolve in later chapters?

I also wanted to add in my discussion, that on page 5 it says "it had been a secret, everything had stayed fixed in her mind like a picture." The first time that I read it I thoght that Veronica didn´t care about what happende that Rebecca was in her room with Veronica, like it was not bad to do that but in thet time it was. Then, when I read the rest of the story I was not confussed but I was not sure if after that she cared about that or not. But what I think is that she didn´t care of because she could not know the rules that that SF had on that time, like only white people can be in this place and black only on that one. That is what I think and what I wanted to add in my discussion.
