As you can see by the image below, when you compare a neurotypical brain to a person with ASD, there are vast differences. While neurotypical brains can screen out undersirable sounds, sights and touch, ASD brains cannot natively. Imagine everything you see, hear and touch has been turned up to 11 and you cannot turn it off. This why many people with ASD will 'stim' by flapping their hands, spinning in circles or moaning loudly. This stim gives their brains a pause button so they can process everything.

For example, when someone asks you about soccer, your ASD mind will bring up a handful of photos which will have snapshots of memories of every soccer game or ball you've seen in your life. In this way, art therapy is wonderful for people with Autism because it allows them to communicate on canvas in the same way that they think. Art is also a great stress relief for people with ASD.

Haveing Brain Space located here is definitely beneficial for everyone. Perth CBD is a transport node, therefore, many citizens are coming in and out of Perth daily. With the daytime population estimated at 130,000+. Although the citizens living in Perth are mainly males, people with no kids or ones who had kids but are now grown up, this area is perfect to launch Brain Space because of the huge mass of people visiting there daily. 

The locations chosen so far:

Elizabeth Quay - This area is recently open and near the centre of Perth CBD. The location is tucked away from the bustle of the busy streets but close enough so an adult with ASD on their lunch break can pop in for relaxation, this applies to all the Brain Space locations. With a large open green space around this particular shipping container, it will visually be inviting for an individual and for parents with ADS Elizabeth Quay is a tourist spot with fun activities for their children.

Urban Orchard - This location is settled near Perth train station so many people will be passing it daily. It is also near the Perth library, art gallery, museum and theatre, therefore, as previously mentioned, parents with ASD can visit this location because it will also be fun for their children.

Hay Street Mall -  This area has been chosen because it's near the heart of Perth's CBD. The double story shipping container is positioned near where most individual coming to Perth for leisure will be, around all the shops and food places. This will ensure that many will visit this Brain Space location so a maximum number of citizens with ASD will see Brain Space and so benefit from it.

Due to my experience in PR I will be able to provide knowledge in creating effective social media accounts that will attract people of Perth to visit our locations. Therefore I will be running these accounts, making them visually appealing and informative. I am also someone that thoroughly enjoys painting in large scale therefore I would love to be involved in the painting of the shipping containers in which Sophia will go into depth about below.

Overview: This structure is composed of 3 c-containers which are placed into the form of a triangle. In the centre, there is a social area which contains a shaded area, chairs and couches. This fenced off area also contains greenery and shrubbery to contribute to Perth greening program .

The one container there is a studio space for activities or classes. In another, there is an area for the sleeping pods.

Overview: Structure 2 for Brain space is made up 2 c-containers with one raised above ground (1.60m) and the other lowered (-1m). The raised container contains the sleeping pods and lowered contains the activity space. The c-container on stilts also has a balcony surrounding the entire structure, in order for individuals to have access to all areas of the panels on the outside of the c-containers. In addition underneath the sleeping pod space is a communal area full of soft outdoor furniture. Finally, the lowered space has a ladder on the side of it so adventurous individuals can climb up and paint the roof panels.

- Outside, 10 cm thick, paneling surrounding most faces of the c-containers, this is so there is a nice smooth surface for ASD individuals to paint on. This feature is also removable for when the bored becomes full or is damaged. The finished boards then can be hung up around Perth city to display the artwork and also promote Brain Space.
- Each area is designed to fit in the area chosen for it to be built on.
-  Most Brain Space containers will have a couple of sleeping pods for relaxation or to calm down individuals with ASD from the busy streets of Perth.
- A few Brain Space locations such as, Elizabeth Quay, will have trees and shrubbery planted so Brain Space is not only helping adults with autism but also the environment.  
- Brain space will provide set times in which ASD individuals can attend classes in the studios by signing up online at our website. This spaces can also be rented out by others for a period of time.
- Painting of the outside is open from 9am-9pm on weekdays and 10am-10pm on weekends, and anyone can join in.
- The paintings on the side will also add to the art in Perth and the overall aesthetic of the city.
- The walls will be sound proof to some extent blocking out Perth's noisy streets.
