The final 3 tracks in the album seem to transition by the drums going into eachother and also by a key switch on the next song. It is noticeable because the drums rhythm change but the transition is quite smooth going into the next track. Some songs transition just by the volume being lowered and then going into the next song.

The next tracks seem to start as an instrumental and then the vocals get introduced in the next few seconds, whereas some start straight away with the instrumental and vocals at the same time.

The first two tracks I listened to seemed to have a similar sound and style but one was slower and the other seemed to be faster, but the final track seemed to be a different style with just the vocals and a slow melody and rhythm.

no obvious transition between first 2 songs. first fades out then second comes in full volume the second first is gone. completely different instrumentally and sonically. first 30 seconds of track 2 are completely different from the rest of the track. this could technically be a transition.

transition between song 2 and 3 is almost invisible. the end of song 2 cuts drums and almost all other instruments for spoken word. by the end of the song the instruments fade away for a single spoken line and the next song starts with piano using the same chords as the bass from the end of song 2. this transition is very smooth and if you are not listening intently its impossible to tell that a new song has started.

Abbey Road - Come Together, Something, Maxwells Silver Hammer.

Come Together - Come Together starts with a cool drum groove and soul vocal from John Lennon as Paul joins in a little later in the background, the song has very obscure lyrics describing a man. Same motif plays every chorus with the three chords before the drum groove again. The song ends with a fade out.

Something - Something starts with three chords and is a soul vocal from George this time and talks about something the in the way this girl has a hold on him romantically.

Maxwells Silver Hammer - This song is more of a story telling from Paul with him talking about a couple going somewhere but Maxwell kills the girl very different to the track before. Same 2 hits on "Bang Bang" every chorus.

What I noticed is that all three are very different, all three had different writers and all three where above 3 minutes and included a solo of some sort.

Us and them into any colour you like:

The vocals at the end of track fade out before jumping into the next track.

The start of any colour you like uses the same intrumentation of the end of "us and them" allowing the transition to be smooth.

Transition from any color you like into Brain damage:

There’s a tiny little gap between the two of fading “any colour you like” straight into “brain damage.”

I believe that one of the held notes from one of the instruments in Any colour you like continued into brain damage, although the transition is still jarring as it feels like there’s a sudden instrumental change.

Brain Damage had vocals which had the same as the album name.

Brain damage into Eclipse is actually good, as at the end of Brain Damage the instrumentation becomes more of a build up for the next track, this allows Eclipse to easily come in and jump into the main part of the track.

Vocals consist of “of the moon” which these 3 words also appear in brain damage.

The first song is very slow with a low kick, and multiple panned elements come through like a ticking clock, spoken vocals, laughter, and a jackhammer-type sound. Then cohesively runs through the first 4 seconds of the second track, making the link very nice to the listener. At the end of the second track, it plays a chord that goes through to the final song, which throughout all these tracks seems to go quicker from the first track to the third.

6 inch - ending really well produced and good theme, autotune usage, the weeknd good feature - 'come back' (at the end)

talking about strippers grinding for money but doesnt care, loves the grind

daddy lessons - country song?? doesn't transition very well, similar thme of being independent, a lot more upbeat, dad warning her about men...

love drought - more synthetic, 808 bassline, arpeggio intro

themes of loving someone no matter what, could come together and move mountains, a strong couple.

so no obvious theme match, different sonically completely throughout these 3 songs, going between promoting independence and promoting strong relationships throughout hard times.

Second Hand News is a quite upbeat, groovy track, with acoustic guitars, harmonic plucking, and a very clean sound throughout. It fades out, ending with a slightly fuzzy guitar solo.

It leads into Dreams, this time with a female lead vocal. This is a slower track, a bit less dancey.

Never going back again is an acoustic song which has a faster speed to Dreams. It is more of an interlude between songs, coming in at just over 2 minutes.

They all have an introspective lyrically emotional feel about them.

Don't hurt yourself begins by slowly introducing the drums just like the previous track.

The lyrics of the tracks in order showcase the progression of being in a bad relationship. In pray you catch me the lyrics focus on the negatives.

In Hold up she focuses on everything she put into the relationship while the guy has done nothing but saying no one loves you like I love you.
