Rule of Thirds<br>Story: An idyllic walk down the stairs take a dramatic turn with eye-catching reds and strong contrast. The Rule of Thirds draws our attention to what has caught the student's eye - a pretty girl out of frame.<br>2. Rhythm<br>Story: Following the tactile path of the blind, a student follows with caution hovering over her head, but her senseless rhythm is coming to an end- what's waiting after graduation? The bright yellow and minimalist shot brings a sense of strong unease.<br>3. Framing<br>Story: Framed literally by an abundance of reference material, the student takes a break from online reading to hide in the library with a good book.<br>4. Leading lines<br>Story: An ordinary hallway is transformed into a zooming tunnel-vision with strong leading lines. The student might miss his ATL submission if he doesn't hurry.<br>5. Repetition<br>Story: The constant Singapore heat and the repeating slabs of grey stairs might be the boring and mundane, but a welcome change for the student fresh out a freezing lecture. <br>6. Symmetry<br>Story: The new student takes his time to explore the new school. Symmetry and his cool blue background lend a sense of balance and peace to the composition.<br>7. Viewpoint<br>Story: The student smiles and focuses on her smartphone even as she's surrounded by symbols of emergency. The steep viewpoint brings urgency into the composition, even if the student can't see how dangerous her procrastination is.</div>]]></description>

Repetition<br>Location: Inside studio 103A<br>Story: This is a photograph of the dividers between 103A and 103B, we used our inquisitive nature and observation skills to observe our surroundings and found the rhythm within the photograph. :^)<br>6. In the second image, taken at the spiral library staircase, Nathaniel is walking up the steps in order to arrive at the designated meet-up point In the meantime, Aren and Kelly are moving past the bridge, making sure everyone is on time, but decide to take an OOTD pic by the T9 wall since there was time to spare. Shortly after, the group finally gets together by their usual classroom, and make their way to Food Court 3 for a well-deserved lunch break after a long lecture. This set of images show how a group can still feel at ease even in a school environment.</div>]]></description>

He had difficulties making friends, hence made a wish at the pond by FC2 on the way to class. After class, James Bond appeared in front of him. He approached James Bond for help in making friends. Eventually, James Bond led him to find his own group of friends. With that, his wish was granted.</div>]]></description>

The 7 pictures are telling a story of how a student spends his time in Singapore Polytechnic. The first photo shows the student waiting outside his classroom for his class to start. He reads his lecture notes to prepare for the lesson. The second photo shows the student going down the stairs to Food Court 2 after class, but before that he goes to the Eco Garden first as he likes being around nature and makes him feel calm. After taking a break, he then proceeds to his next class. After his class he is then dismissed and heads to the car park to wait for his parents to fetch him. While waiting, he reads his journal to plan for the rest of the week.</div>]]></description>

Hence, this allows us to not only depict the life of a poly student, but more specifically an SP MAD student. Having a passion for music, she cheers herself up by playing the piano. Hannah does this every day, persevering through the boring and lonely lectures. She soon finds herself surrounded by friends that share similar interest. With her three new friends, she goes back to being the excited and curious freshman.</div>]]></description>

The photo flow of walking to the design block from the MRT station depicts the weight of these burdens being shouldered by everyday students as well as the dread of entering adulthood, fears of future career stability and how the long walk and the rain further adds to this depressive feeling.<br><br></div>]]></description>

SONY RX10M2, CANON-EOS 700D<br>4.This photo collection depicts an eventful day of a very lost student in the big SP.<br>Storyline: The girl looks upon a menacing flight of stairs thinking that it will lead her to her class. Little does she know, that particular flight will NOT lead her there. Defeated by the trickery, she dejectedly walked down another flight of stairs and sits down for a break without being able to find her class. She then stumbles upon a food court (FC1) and decides to stop for a snack. The food there was so delicious that she displayed a look of satisfaction to the chef present. After wandering for a long while, she found her class but by then class was already over. Overtaken by the fatigue and food coma, she decides to sit down and contemplate about life. She then bumps into her good friend, Charlie, and they proceed to have a great time. After a long while, Charlie finally left and so she continues to wander off into the vastness of SP without a goal in mind. Whilst walking down another treacherous flight of stairs, she lost her balance and slid down the staircase, only to spot her long time crush in a distance. Instinctively, she used her quick reflexes to strike a seductive pose to try to look presentable for him. Thus ending her eventful day in school being lost.</div>]]></description>

You would not know what is going on in peoples mind, but you could see the expressions on their face and assume how their day went or how happy they are. This album portrays the emotions of students on a daily basis. Going to class on a rainy day with a big smile on her face ,leaving class for a little bit to text your love ones or even reading alone in the library. Many people find joy in different things. So this bunch of photos shows the different emotions you see all around school. Even when the odds is not in favor , it does not mean it’s going to be a bad day. </div>]]></description>

Story: The collection of photos represent the theme of “rainy days” that everyone goes through, hence the decision to use different models in each picture. Firstly, the picture in which leading lines leading outward away from him represent the long, difficult path to reach the end. Conversely, in the picture where rhythm is used, we attempted to use the golden ratio to show lines leading in to him, representing a downward spiral that everyone experiences. The picture with framing represents a box we are confined in, all while smiling through it like nothing happened. We used the rule of thirds to separate the picture into three parts, each with its own theme. The left has greenery, representing life and vitality, the middle being wood to represent a bridge, and the right being white to show a lack of anything. The picture with symmetry represents how there is no difference regardless of whichever path you take, trapping you. Similarly, the repetition shows how people can take different paths, yet they are all repetitions of the same choice. The viewpoint shows how sometimes, a change in perspective could make things seem more hopeless, surrounded by the same hard problems.</div>]]></description>

After a tiring day of travelling through the school, they decided to let loose and unwind at the library.  The vibrant colours they found along the way, definitely did bring life to their gloomy day. </li></ol><div><br></div>]]></description>

There’s nothing out of the ordinary as they go about their daily lives, going to class, reading books, articles, laughing, and even exploring SP along the way. It’s still their second week of school, and they have much to explore in SP. The pictures might not show much attention to their emotions, but only students would truly know their feelings.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Upen, Roxanne, Amadea, Alastair, Jia Yan<br>2. SP Colours, SP Admin Building, Design School Yellow Bridge<br>3. Nikon D3100, Sony RX10<br>4. Unbeknownst to Jia Yan, Roxanne ended school early and decides to leave instead of waiting around. Jia Yan’s data isn’t working so she doesn’t receive the message from Roxanne. Hence, Jia Yan waits patiently for Roxanne at stairs outside her classroom. After a few minutes, she decides to go explore the library while she waits for Roxanne. She drowns herself in the abundance of books before finally trying to explore the campus. Whilst adventuring around, she comes across an empty corridor that she deemed as an appropriate waiting area. Suddenly, she gets an SMS from Roxanne saying that she has ditched her. Jia Yan becomes sad as she had waited for a good 2 hours. With no choice but to go home, she walks back alone.</div>]]></description>
