(Nick's group)

Seasonal unemployment is unemployment occurs in certain seasons as a result of some change. Seasonal unemployment comes about due to the shifts in demand for labor that occur in a predictable manner throughout the year. In certain seasons or periods of the year, demand for labor may rise or fall.

For example, a lot of lifeguards are hired more in summer due to how many people go to beaches in these months. By fall and winter, many are unemployed since there are less people going to the beach and thus less of a demand for lifeguards. The same goes for employees of retail stores during the holiday months who are typically laid off after holiday shopping has slowed down.

(Brandon's group)
Structural Unemployment is longer lasting unemployment brought on by shifts in the economy which are influenced by technology, competition and government policy.
Ex: mining: technological advancements in the mining industry cause machine labore to be more desired than human labor. This causes a rise in unemployment in the mining industry.
Ex 2: bus drivers; Tesla has invented autonomous semi that can drive itself. As a result, the demand for bus drivers will decrease as the semis become more popular.

(Kelvin's group)

Cyclical unemployement is essntially unemployement due to the overall demand of goods and services not being able to support full employement within an economy. When the demand of a product or service decreases, the firm does not need as many laborers and resources, meaning less employees are needed. Furthermore, GDP and cyclical unemploymenet are inversely proportional. As the GDP increases, cyclical unemployement decreases, and vice versa.

🌠's group 🤮

The natural rate of unemployment is the lowest unemployment rate, caused by real or voluntary economic forces. It is also the combination of frictional, structural, and surplus unemployment. The natural rate is most affected by the number of youthful workers in the labor force, as well as public schools that discourage employment or job creation, such as high minimum wage, generous unemplyment benefits and few employer disincentives with laying off workers.

(Alfredo's group)
Undermployment is when workers are working, but aren't working at their full capacity. This also includes people who are working part time, but wish to work full time. An example would be a person with an engineering degree working as a pizza delivery man. This person would be able to benefit the economy more working as an engineer, however because he is not, his skill is wasted. This also apllies to people working part time, as they are willing to greater benefit the economy with more labor, but are currently not doing so.
