I`m teacher of French in a secondary school in Greece. My students` age is 16-18. In my class I want my students to solve real problems, to collaborate and communicate achieving the goals of the foreign language. I think I use an approach like PBL. For example, I presented to my students the tool google earth, and they tried to use it in groups of 2 to 3 persons in our ICT laboratory. I gave them the time to explore the tool, and I asked them to walk virtually in Paris, to watch monuments, collaborating and working in groups, and to visit museums. I told them to make their choice about the monuments or the museums. In this way all students were motivated and engaged to participate. They had to present to their classmates a guided tour using French language. I think that students using google earth are able to understand maps to develop geospatial skills (cross-curriculum skills), to plan a visit, skills they need in real life. Also they developed their language skills and their communicative and collaborative skills. After the presentation, they discussed about the tool and about their experience, also they evaluated their work, making commends the one group to the other in purpose to improve their work.

I think this approach responded to students` needs, it strengthened communication, enhanced cooperation and it developed students` language skills in french. Me, as teacher, I had a new role, I had to facilitate students` work, to encourage them and the most difficult duty: to manage time.

The driving question was: What is the most interesting walk and visit in Paris

I`m teacher of French in a secondary school in Greece. My students` age is 16-18. In my class. I want my students to solve real problems, to collaborate and communicate achieving the goals of the foreign language.
The goals of my project: Language skills, Cross-curricular skills, problem solving skills, collaborative skills, communicative skills
I present to my students the tool google earth, and they try to use it in groups of 2 to 3 persons in our ICT laboratory. I give them the time to explore the tool, and I ask them “What is the most interesting virtual walk and visit in Paris?” that means they have to walk virtually in Paris, to watch monuments, collaborating and working in groups, and to visit museums. I tell them to make their choice about the monuments or the museums. In this way all students are motivated and engaged to participate.

The last two years I work with my students on etwinning projects and it`s an exciting experience to collaborate with students and teachers from other countries. Furthermore, my school is open to invite people, we don`t hesitate in front of the bureaucracy to take the permission. We invite professionals to inform us and to help us to do our projects. As an example I can say that we invite specialists on making movies because we have a tradition in our school to make movies or video-clips. Our teachers are open-minded and our culture is cooperative.
