Marijuana has been an issue in the United States for many years. During Donald Trumps election, the newly elected president claimed the legalization of the drug "should be a state issue, state-by-state". Currently, people who smoke weed in states where its legal can still be prosecuted for the consumption and possession of the drug. To this day, there have been no reported overdoses from smoking legal marijuana. What is the government afraid of? If marijuana is legalized federally , with strict regulation, it will allow the drug to progress.
