One of my most favourite museums and one that children surely enjoy is the Vikings' Museum in York, UK. The Vikings [you all know who they were] captured the village of York in England in the 9th century. In 1972 evidence of the Vikings living there was found [such as buildings, clothes and leather shoes, seeds, insect remains, plants, animal bones etc]. The archaeologists found so much evidence that they were able to recreate a real Viking village, with houses, people, animals, market, sounds, smells... So, when you visit this museum you not only see the various collections of the findings, but you also take a ride through a Viking village. You can see Viking men, women and children talk, walk, play, eat... You will not believe how real they look!

those who dare to visit it will be scared and will have a scary but magical experience.
the museum was not built there by chance. but from a myth that witches once lived in that village
La cabotina, as they call it even today, is where they made their spells and mocked them, and that's where the ceremonies took place. even today one can watch a small play that the witches will make their spells.
if you don't believe me, watch this

Last summer i visited with my family the museum of Karla which is near the city of Volos. In the museum there are photos, videos and things about the life of people next to the lake. most of them were fishermans and they lived in huts for nine months a year.
Once the lake had a lot of fishes and different kinds of animals and birds. I was so impressed that people lived next to the lake for so many ages. It is sad that their civilization was destroyed in 1965 by the drying of Karla but i am happy that the lake was created again in 2000 and i can see it today. Near there is also my grandparents' village Kalamaki. If you would like to visit the musum this is the adress.

Archaelogical Museum of Lemnos [by Theodosia Roussou]

The building where the Museum of Lemnos is located today was built during the Turkish occupation, at the end of the 19th century, and housed the Turkish Command. It is a two-storey building with a ground floor and elements of simple neoclassical architecture. On the first floor, a wide corridor divides the space into two parts, where smaller rooms are formed. A wooden staircase leads to the second floor where five rooms are formed, which communicate with door openings. In 1939, the building was sold by the community of Kastro, (now the Municipality of Myrina), to the Pallimniakos school fund, on the condition that it be donated to the State, to house the Archaeological Museum of Lemnos. The first exhibition was hosted in 1961 and thirty years later, in 1991, the then EPKA proceeded with a re-exhibition. The Archaeological Museum of Lemnos includes finds from all the excavated ancient sites, including the famous clay statues of the Archaic times of the Sirens and Sphinxes, which is a cultural center for the local community and a pole of attraction for a large number of visitors. The exhibition was organized in 1993 with the aim of ensuring the antiquities of Lemnos and on the other hand the visitor could follow the historical route and evolution of the island in chronological order from the Chalcolithic period to Roman rule. Well, in the first two rooms of the floor, inside and outside the entrance corridor, as well as in the main corridor, the prehistoric Lemnos was presented with findings mainly from the excavations of the Italian Archaeological School by Poliochni, less than Myrina, as well as Mycenaean exhibits from Koukonisi. In the rest of the ground floor there were stone exhibits, such as sculptures, inscriptions, as well as tombstones not only from Lemnos, but also from Imvros. On the second floor, the exhibits revived the route of the Historical Times of Lemnos, from Geometric times to the Late Roman Empire, with exhibits from Kaveri, such as the pottery of the depositor, the Volcano with the tributes to the Sanctuary of the Great Goddess and the buildings necropolis, and Myrina with the findings of the depositor from the Sanctuary of Artemis outside the walls of the ancient city. The halls with Lemnos of the classical and Hellenistic times followed: Attic black-painted vessels, figurines and utensils from the tombs of the Athenian heirs and the workshops of Hellenistic pottery from Hephaestus and Myrina. In a separate room were placed all the bone and metal objects, jewelry, tools and coins. Due to the strong earthquake that hit the island of Lemnos in May 2014, the Archaeological Museum suffered serious building damage and damage to the exhibits on the second floor. After an autopsy carried out by the Central Service of the Ministry of Culture, the procedures for the repair of the building of the Archaeological Museum were launched and for this reason the exhibits on the second floor were temporarily removed and stored. In October 2014, the renovation of the building was completed, but it was not considered appropriate to reopen the second floor exhibition, on the grounds that the Museum needed to be renovated, based on modern museum ideas, as twenty-three years had passed since the last exhibition. Based on the above reasoning, the need to highlight the exhibits with modern means, the modernization and improvement of infrastructure (access for the disabled, replacement of windows, modern audiovisual media) and the need to host in the halls of the Museum a number of new important findings of recent excavations. the Ephorate of Antiquities of Lesvos has proceeded with the planning of the re-exhibition.
