Bricks made of agricultural wastes was developed by researchers from Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad and KIIT School of Architecture. Agro-wastes which includes chopped paddy straws, wheat straws and sugarcane bagasse were added to a lime-based slurry to make these bio-bricks. However, these bricks are not strong enough to be used in load-bearing structures, therefore, it is not the best alternative for burnt clay bricks. Moreover, its applicability to the Philippines is still questionable since the components are specific to the common agro-wastes in India.

Improper disposal and collection of wastes are just some of the notable problems concerning waste management.
