Post 2 - *Explain in 50-100 words the significance of the conversion of Saul of Tarsus

Saul being born in Tarsus meant that he beat up, threw stones and very strongly hated the Christians. Once Saul had heard a message from Jesus asking why he was doing this, Saul decided to start to explore more into the Gospel. Eventually, through preaching, teaching and spreading the word of God, Saul became Paul. Paul then decided to devote his whole life to God and did not even mind getting beat up and put in jail because he knew it was for God. If Saul hadn't converted to Paul then the Christian faith would not be nearly as strong and popular as it is today.

On St Paul's second Journey he started at Antioch and stopped through many towns and cities then eventually made his way back to Antioch and lasted for around 3 years. Some of the main places that Paul visited were Tarsus, Lystra, Ephesus, Troas, Thessalonica, Corinth, and Jerusalem. While Paul was in these places he did many good things, for example, they preached the Gospel to others, they made new people believe in Christ, they made new people follow and preach the Gospel and they recruited new people to come with them on their journey. This Journey was so important because it was one their longest journeys and they strengthened the Christian Churches and people believes in Christ and the Gospel. Another thing that made his second journey so important was because he got in some trouble with the Roman Empire but because of his previous teachings, people still believed in Christ.

The purpose of Paul's letters was to spread the word of Jesus and to explain the purpose of Christ and the Gospel to those who did not already know about it. He mainly wrote letters explaining and telling people about the presence of Jesus so that people knew that even without Paul they could still know how to learn more about the Gospel and Christ. The main messages in the letters that St Paul wrote were usually about the rules of the Gospel and the things you need to do to become a follower of Christ.

Paul had many cultural challenges in his life and you can tell what some of these are from his letters. One of these cultural challenges was that some people believed that if you wanted to convert to Christianity you needed to do things like being circumcised. Paul did not believe these things, he believed that to follow the lord you needed to respect the Gospel and the teachings of Jesus. St Paul even wrote in one of his epistles (Gal. 5:6:) "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love."

Philippians 3:12-14
The message in this text is that if you believe in yourself and in God then you will always reach your goal. The text also says that you should always remember that "Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead" is what you need to do if you want to reach your goals. The message is relevant for people and groups of people today because a lot of the time people do not believe in themselves and give up on their goals and they need to remember that if you believe then you will reach your goal.
