The fourth of July is an important holiday in the United States. At that specific date the Americans celebrate the declaration of independence that is adopted on fourth of July back in 1776. Back in 1776, thirteen colonies in America had stated themselves to be states of the United States and were no longer a part of the British. 

 

Before 1776 the United states was divided in a collection of thirteen colonies. These colonies were owned by the British. The British had been present at the continent (now known as United States) since 1587 for resources that where been shipped to Great Britain. After some time there began to came some friction between in the United States because of several rules that had been made up by the British. For example, the taxes went more expensive. This led that the people had to pay more taxes. These tensions led into fights, like the Boston Tea Party in 1773 and in 1775 when the war of independence against Britain was declared.

 

The current way of celebrating this traditional day is with fireworks and several parties at home or festivals in parks and squares in the cities. There is even a firework show that is given by the White House. The fourth of July is also a good occasion to visit family for reunions. Some people like to go on vacations during the Independence Day.

 

If someone says what do you think about when I say the United states. Most people will say fast food, big city’s or maybe even world leading country. If you would ask that question to me I would say guns. I am still amazed that people are allowed to carry a gun in the biggest part of the United States. Research from www.gunpolicy.org has shown that every American has an average of 1,12 guns. This brings the United State to the very first place followed by Serbia. In Serbia, every citizen owns an average of 0.58 guns. Not all American citizen have guns, there are even people who own more than twenty guns. There are only three states in the United States where people are not allowed to carry a gun in public, except authorized people

 

Why do so many people in the United states have guns?

 

During the research on this question many I had seen many reasons. The most appropriate are in my opinion the following: many American citizen believe that self-protection is not a privilege but a right. Besides that, it is very easy to buy a handgun in the United States. While I was watching a documentary a while ago about guns in the United States, a certified seller of handguns said that it is easier to buy a handgun than buying an iPhone at the local Apple store. If an American citizen want to buy a riffle-gun it costs more time because of the extra paper work that is needed for registration and the government.

 

Guns, United States and the future?

 

When Barack Obama was the president of the United States he wanted to decrease the number of guns per citizen. The new president Donald Trump does not share the same ideas as his predecessor. He even said ‘’no limits on guns, they save lives’’. That is a very clear statement. I don’t think that there will be any ‘’negative’’ changes for the citizens of the United States that have weapons.

 

Route 66 also known as U.S. Route 66 and US 66 was one of the most famous highways in the history of America. The build of the road completed at November 1926, one year later the road signs were placed of the full 2451 miles. Route 66 ran through several states in America. It ran from Chicago, Illinois, through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona where the last state was California. Lots of people from the east used the route 66 to migrate into the west part of America. Besides that, lots of people had great benefit from people passing their town for food or shelter during their trip, the economies of these people had a great benefit. Eventually the official route 66 came at the end of it lifetime in 1985, by that time it had been replaced by parts of the Interstate Highway System. Several states keep the route 66 still alive by placing it on the maps of their states with the signification of Historic U.S. Route 66.

 

How is the route 66 currently used?

 

As stated in the text above it became clear that the original route 66 is divided in several parts of the Interstate Highway System. It is still possible to drive over the most part of the historic route 66. Many travel agencies have smart anticipated on the demand of people who want to travel the historic route 66. Various agencies offer arrangements to travel over a small part of the road and even the complete road. Besides that, it is even possible to rent nearly every kind of transportation to travel over the road. There are even agencies who can arrange everything for you like transport, restaurants, hotels/motels and even pickup service when your vehicle is broken down.
