This was interesting, as I was given an opportunity to meet with a hiring manager from Boeing on Thursday, the 25th of January. I also learned that Finance or Accounting is a great suit for me because I love numbers and computing logical algorithms, and applying to Boeing or Airbus with some business experience would be very beneficial.

I was very fortunate to meet with two women who work with Boeing in a group that specializes in recruiting students from UW. I got their LinkedIn information, and they gave me some insight as to what they're looking for in students as candidates for internships and potential employees.

I'm planning on doing internships at Boeing (or other companies when opportunities present themselves) to aid my chances in being requested or accepted when I apply for a full time job.

• Commitment (This wasn't one of the values listed on indeed, but it's something I live by every day. You can't achieve your goals without being committed to the result and the process, and vise versa)

• Growth (Learning from your mistakes is extremely important, and being able to build from what you learnis what helps you not only accomplish your goals and prevent the mistake from happening again but also what makes you happy and healthy)

• Persistence (Persistence is how you get to your goals, even in the roughest of conditions. It's good to take breaks, but you can't give up - be persistent toward your goals, never stop until they're achieved)

• Self-Improvement (This kind of fits into the last two, but self-improvement is vital in learning who you are and what you love/are interested in, which is what will make you successful)

• Kindness (Maintaining friendships, loving your family members and being kind to strangers is what I think is the most important piece to a person's happiness)

In general, I have social anxiety, but I am able to overcome this when I know it is necessary to communicate. In a professional setting, I work the same why, and I can remind myself that people are genuinely interested in working with me 90% of the time.

I should work on being more clear in my communication, and coming to a professional conversation more prepared and knowing exactly what I need to talk about.

Question for Alumni Panel: Do you regret any academic choices you've made ? Do you have any tips for transferring if you have transferred ? Do you have any tips on applying to your major ?

I agree with what they said about cultivating your purpose; it' something you have to grow. You can't realize it suddenly; it's something you discover as you learn about who you are.

I think this applies well to career, as it's initially hard for many people to find what to study or what jobs to start searching for because they don't know what they enjoy or want to do.

My goal is to continue to cultivate my purpose by learning as much as I can in engineering and discover new opportunities as they arise. It's important to not be limited, to find where you're truly most successful.

Some strategies computers use for classifying things included regression analysis, which matches things with certain traits to a regression line and determines whether things fit with the regression line of that data.

Another strategy was called k nearest neighbor, where an algorithm repeatedly picks 'leaders' out of members of a set until they are spaced well apart from each other but around other members, and then groups the nearest members of the set to these to group pieces of a set into pieces of similar traits.

I learned first and foremost that experience/projects is probably the most important attribute in most fields, especially engineering. I need to start joining clubs and working on projects as well as maintaining good grades, as skills in my field are super interesting to people looking to hire me.

I also learned about how broad being engineer on the planes at Boeing is - I can do statics on many very specific parts of the planes, I can design the wings, I can work on comfort and I can do electronics and all sorts of things in the plane. Even after I pick a specific field or company, there is still some mobility and options to make which is phenomenal.

One of my favourite things about skiing is the amount of freedom you have on the mountain - I've found opportunities to throw various tricks in random spots on the mountain and take advantage of very unique terrain such as spines and different large cliffs.

My goal with skiing is to participate on the freeride world tour, and maybe get sponsored by RedBull.
