For spelling we can do spelling exercises (basic and intermediate levels).
An unscrambled word can be written on the board and then students should guess the word.
Blanks for 1 or 2 letters can be a good practice. 
We can give the students some papers which alphabet letters are on them and ask them to make any words they can. 
For upper intermediate classes, a story should be printed on papers each for a group and the instruction can be finding adjectives or nouns.

one of the good ways here is games. i myself love board games. we can draw a big board game on the floor and ask them to jump on the correct spelling of the word.
