In Artefact 1 I singing Piece by piece by Kelly Clarkson. This artefact shows my understanding of getting a message across to the audience, in this artefact I put emotion in to my voice while also having emotion on my body to make it come across to the audience. To help me put across a message in this song and to really make the audience believe what I was saying I had to get into character. To do this I made a character card to help me get into the emotional role.

The song I am singing is called “ It Means Beautiful” from the musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie , by adding in a musical song to my set list I shows my ability to perform different genres and to have a variety of themes in my set list while tying them all to a ballad theme. To improve my acting through song for this piece I made a character card to help get into the role of the character I wanted to portray.

As my forth song I sang Sober by Demi lovato this is a heart renching song that needs a lot of concentration to do both singing techniques and also to tell a story. In this performance I felt that the emotion really came across and I coloured my words really well. Compared to the first performance of me doing this song.

This evidence shows the difference between and early performance and a more recent one. I feel my timing has come a long way. In the older video I am trying to keep up with the backing track but in the more recent one I am more relaxed and sticking to each beat.

In this artefact i am singing touch by little mix (acoustic) I showed good technique in this performance by using different ways of singing including , vocal fry , breathy , cry tilt and also belt.

I have come a long way from this performance to my most recent, I struggle a lot with allergies that clog me up and make it hard to sing but after this performance I new I needed to change now before every performance I will take half an allergy tablet to make sure my voice is at the best of its ability. In this performance my voice sounds strained and Im not doing much colouring compared to me latest one.

Planning stage

- I originally decided in my plan that I was going to use my recording studio session recording as one of my artefacts but after performing the same song again after that session I realised I had improved a lot in using different vocal techniques such as belt , vocal fry , breathy compared to the first time when I was mainly singing with vocal tilt. By adding new techniques it improves the audiences engagement by having a new sound to listen to each verse. I will carry on learning new techniques to improve my voice and also performances.

Development Stage 

- The development stage was hard for me because I can be quite critical of my performances and finding a video I feel was up to my standards is hard for me. To over come this I thought back to some of my first performances compared to the more recent ones and how much I have improved and that even if I thought I messed up or my voice wasn’t on point that day. That no one else notices except from me. I am going to keep this mindset in the future to become more confident in the work I do.

- Throughout the development stage I also learned that even if I feel like something is impossible it’s not. I struggled so much with music theory at the start but I new if I kept persevering I could learn.
