When it is in the first person point of view the person gives more description of their story and how they see the situation. If it is in the third person point of view the narrator gives more information on the whole story. In 3rd person, you see what's happening from of a "outside view". Even if the narrator knows everything about that character, it only follows one character, so you get to see it from the outside. 3rd person omniscient is where the narrator knows everything and we still see it from the outside.
