This is the most restrictive and extreme as it involves killing the convicted offender. It is restrictive because it involves taking the person's life. I think that in extreme cases the death penalty is applicable but in most instances I believe that it should not be used. The worst of the worst receive this sentence, which includes genocide, serial killers, or other atrocious criminals. The death penalty is very effective at stopping those individuals but is extremely unethical.

The is a very restrictive form of punishment which entails the offenders being locked in a secure facility stopping them from moving around and interacting with the outside world. This form of punishment is very restrictive, only topped by the death penalty. People who are convicted of violent crimes, rape, and serious financial crimes, as well as many others can all fall into getting prison sentences. It is somewhat effective, in some ways it can make people better as it is a very horrible punishment, however it may also lump people who committed weaker/not as serious crimes in with murderers which may make those individuals worse. Therefore, it is only somewhat effective.

A process where the judge orders the convicted offender to prison for a short period of time before starting there probation sentence. This is obviously less restrictive than a full prison sentence but is still very restrictive. The people who would usually get this sentence are people who have committed lesser offenses, but still serious ones such as assault or something to that likeness. It is meant to serve as an awakening to the individual to show them how bad prison can be in order to stop them from committing further crimes. It is quite effective.

A non-secure facility, located in the community, that houses probationers who need a more secure environment. Typically, residents are free during the day to go to work, school, or treatment, and they return in the evening for counseling sessions and meals. This is somewhat restrictive because the probationers have to go back to the RCC everyday. People who served prison sentences or got shock probation may go to one of these places before they are admitted to go fully back into the real world. It is quite effective at reintroducing convicted offenders back into society.

Requiring convicted offenders to wear a monitoring device as part of their community sentence. Typically part of a house arrest order, this enables the probation department to ensure that offenders are complying with court-ordered limitations on their freedom. This is slightly more restrictive than house arrest because the probation officer can monitor the person on house arrest in order to make sure that they are complying with their sentence. The type of people who may get this charge are people who have committed offenses that are serious but not serious enough to go to prison. This is more effective than house arrest because the probation officer can keep an eye of the convicted offender.

A form of intermediate sanction that requires the convicted offender to spend a designated amount of time per week in his or her home. The degree of restrictiveness is less than that of electronic monitoring but only slightly. The type of people who get house arrest will be convicted offenders who committed violent less serious crimes or something equal to crimes of that caliber. This is an effective way of limiting people from committing further crimes while on their sentence.

A type of intermediate sanction involving small probation caseloads and strict monitoring on a daily or weekly basis. This is more restrictive than normal probation because individuals under intensive probation are kept under strict supervision by probation officers. The types of people who would get intensive probation are people who have committed crimes that would normally warrant probation but are slightly more serious. This type of punishment is more effective than probation but not supremely effective.

This is not very restrictive because it only involves the offender repaying society not any restrictions or punishments. The people who would get this punishment are people have damaged public property. This is an effective way of fixing the damage to the community that the individual has caused and giving the individual a slight punishment.

A sentence entailing the conditional release of a convicted offender into the community under the supervision of the court (in the person of a probation officer), subject to certain conditions for a specified time. This is not very restrictive because the offender is allowed to go wherever they want and all they have to do is not break their probation rules. People who get probation would either get probation after getting out of jail or commit a minor offense. This is not a very effective form of punishment in my opinion.

The seizure of personal property by the state as a civil or criminal penalty. This is not very restrictive, because it only entails taking material possessions from the person sentenced, not actually monitoring or jailing them in any way. People who commit property crimes or minor or a little more than minor offenses will receive this punishment. It is a good deterrent from doing dumb stuff but other than that it is not that effective. No one is really scared of getting forfeiture for their crimes.

People get fines for everything under the sun. It is a somewhat effective deterrent especially for normal upstanding citizens, stopping them from littering or driving without a muffler/catalytic converter. It is effective for what it is meant to do.

People who get bail can be anyone who is not a major threat to society while they wait on trial or people who have committed very minor offenses. It is not very effective in my opinion and I think a different system should be put into place.
