The second one is: beginning in 1930 a very bad drought hit the great plains. there had been droughts before. but this one was different.The last one is: when the drought began, farmers rolled up their sleeves and worked harder. they found new ways to farm and they survived. It was a period when many people in the country were out of work. Times were tough all over.
