The best advice I can share is when baby is cranky put them in water or take them outside.  Most baby advice is overwhelming but I did find the book The Happiest Baby on the Block helpful (5 S's of sleep swaddling, shushing, swinging, sucking, holding them on their side or stomach).  Take it or leave it :-)
