         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Soil needs porosity to allow air &amp; water to hold for plants and micro organisms as well as allowing for drainage.<br><br>-Soil can be damaged by compaction, salt water/salinisation, over fertilization &amp; poor soil management/farming practices.<br><br>-Soils have cultural significance in that they preserve artifacts, have been historically used for dyes for paints and artwork and growing food.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Soil Porosity</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Soil porosity is important for many reasons.<br>One reason is that soil pores contain groundwater that many of us drink.<br>Another important aspect of soil porosity concerns the oxygen found within these pore spaces. All plants need oxygen for respiration, so a well-aerated soil is important for growing crops.</div>]]></description>
