Hate crimes are a big deal because people are being killed for living their own lifestyle or being a different race. This memorial will help fight hate crimes by showing what happens when crimes of hate are committed. Nobody should be or feel threatened for who they are. Everyone should be able to live how they want to live without their being a problem. I hope people will understand that other people should not judge people for being who they want to be, or who they were born as, or what race they are. Just because people are different from you there should be no problem with that because every single person on the planet is different from the other.

I chose to represent what the stonewall riots accomplished. They made it so that LGBTQ+ people got more respect and were represented more in the media. I made it so that the flag was not fully colored to show how people’s perspectives are still biased. I made the background quite dull to show how much more needs to be done until there can be equality, but the people are very colorful to show the hope people have.
How might this memorial change perspectives on the subject?
It is on the side of our school because that is an everyday place people walk by everyday, which is the goal because I want it to be seen by people everyday. This is because I want people to see it a lot so that they can see the message over time. The goal is to show people that no matter how you identify, we are all equal. I want it to change the perspective of all the homophobic people, at this school mainly, and even if it doesnt change their perspective, I want it to be there to show them that there are LGBTQ+ people, and they have to get over it.

I chose union square because I have noticed that union square is where a lot of people are and go and it's also where a lot of tourists are. i also picked anne frank because i feel like she wasn't talked alot about in a while so i think more people should learn about and know her but even though she didn't make a big impact of the world she still helped people know about what happened during the Holocaust and what she experencied.

i feel like it might change how people thought about the Holocaust and they could see how they were treated especially  when they were tagged and when they were caught and sent to concentration camp.

I saw a news service where they showed him teaching basketball to kids, even in the dark caused by a blackout from the war, using cell phone lights to continue learning. He is also serving in the military because he wants to defend his people. He sold his 2 championship rings to give money to help Ukrainian kids. He said that now he is more mature, and he realizes how people and love are more important than success with the NBA.
I hope that when people view this monument they realize that Slava is a hero, and he sacrificed his career to help his people. He stepped in the line of danger like a brave solder, fearless and dedicated. 
Slava reminds people that many men are courageous, and they put family and friends ahead of their lives, to protect them. Even with their own life.  
I would put this monument in a famous stadium specifically one where NBA players would play, because I hope people will pass this monument every day and think about all the good that Slava is doing in the world.

       I chose June Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month for two particular reasons. One of those reasons is my sister's grandfather. Although he isn't my grandfather, I know how much it would mean to my sister and him for choosing this event. Her grandfather is a person living with Alzheimer's. Whenever I see her speak of him, I notice the sadness in her  eyes. The second reason is the meaning of the flower. Speaking for myself, when I drew flowers the colors were blue for petals and yellow for the middle. Up until last year I learned the true meaning of this flower.
How might the memorial change perspectives on the subject? 
      Many know of Alzheimer's but don't notice the pain many go through and how it could quickly reach them or their loved ones. This memorial is dedicated to those  people who are living with Alzheimer's, their family members living with Alzheimer's, and to form a community. This community is about finding a cure to help out. It can be verbally, with an action, even just supporting by standing at events, or from a far. 
This memorial shows flowers in the ground with writing (both carved in) with the words "Forget-Me-Not." Anyone should and will see it while walking around in places like Jackson Square.

This monument depicts my great uncle and his partner, along with artifacts of their careers.

Location: This monument would be located in place of a regular park bench in front of Boston University's art college, where my great uncle attended school. There would be lots of foot traffic in this location. I planned this statue to be on a bench so people can sit beside them and interact with the monument.

Why did you chose this particular place, event, or individual?  I chose them because they both died of AIDS in the 1980s and 90s, early in the AIDS crisis. Both of their deaths really impacted a lot of people, such as their friends, family and colleagues. I interviewed my grandmother for this project to learn more about their lives.

How might the memorial change perspectives on the subject? I think that this memorial could help spark interest in younger people who weren't alive during the early AIDS epidemic to do their own research about the impact of AIDS. The details in the monument (Uncle Taylor's sewing box because he was a costume designer and Uncle Keith's flight attendant's uniform and suitcase) can help people realize that all people who have died of AIDS aren't just numbers, they are actual people. In 2020 45,979 Americans died by suicide and everyday approximately 125 Americans die by suicide. In the US there is one suicide death every 11.5 minutes, one attempt every 27.5 seconds and for 15 to 24 year old Americans suicide is the third leading course of death. While people know what suicide is and most people don't how much it happens. People don't like to talk about it and a lot schools tend to refrain from educating their students on this topic. More than 50 percent of people who die by suicide in America suffer from major depression. In America we need more mental health awareness and suicide prevention/ awareness. I dedicate this memorial to all people that have died by suicide, may they rest in peace finally.

On December 9th, 2021, my grandmother got targeted because she’s Asian. The attackers left her a blue eye and scratches all over her head. She recovered from the Hospital but, she did not recover from the nightmare the attackers left her.
