Besides the weight of the lines, the lines usually don't go in a straight line to emphasize nature and the life of the art.

Art Nouveau was an innovative international style of modern art that became fashionable around the year 1890 to the First World War. Art Noveau portrayed sinuous, graceful, and rhythm organic lines based on plant forms. The motifs are sometimes inspired by plants. An example is the Illustration of Zodiac by Alphonse Mucha. Asymmetrical lines are shown clearly on the rhythmic swirling hair and flowing sinuous lines are used often in the detailing of the artwork. The overall picture gave a sense of organic nature.
The style of Art Nouveau using the flowing of lines and fine detailing are parts that attract me. I love the feel of organic nature that indicates Art Nouveau from architecture, furniture, and illustrations.

Popular in Europe and US, art nouveau is a type of new art at the time. Art Nouveau style advocated the unity of all the arts and argued against discrimination between fine art and the lesser, decorative arts (caused by the rise of industrialisation during industrial revolution). Thus, Art Nouveau artists sought to integrate art with the everyday, producing beautiful yet functional objects to elevate people's lives. The roots of Art Nouveau can be traced back to the Art and Crafts Movement.

Art nouveau is a type of art that has a lot of curve lines, and is often asymmetry, thus gives a movement feeling in visual language. It looks very similar to art deco, but art nouveau has more curve, organic and long lines, whereas art deco has more sharp corners and geometry shapes. In paintings, art nouveau inspired a lot by floras, faunas and legend story characters, whereas in products and buildings, it uses a lot of stained glass, curves and arches.

Opinion: I like this art movement because it gives viewer a lively feeling of art and design, with muted but not dull colours. I also like this art movement because it is very detailed, graceful and has a mysterious vibe.

Different from Art Nouveau's stylized forms from nature, Art Deco emphasizes machine-age streamlining and sleek geometry. In the overall aesthetics of Art deco, repetitive use of linear and geometric shapes are used, such as triangular and trapezoid shapes. Unlike the fine and complex detailing in Art Nouveau, Art Deco tend to simplify the form.
The simple style of Art Deco is an attraction to me. Simplified forms can be a way to express clean and harmonious art. Not a huge fan of Art Deco but do feel respect and astonished by the style of Art Deco.

The Arts and Crafts movement began during the mid 19th century and was the first and foremost a response to social changes initiated by the Industrial Revolution that began in Britain. The first word that I can use to describe this movement immediately is 'Gothic'. The Arts and Crafts movement was indeed influenced by the Gothic style by William Morris. This notion of the Middle Ages as an ideal model for craftsmanship, design, and architecture would later become an important aspect of the Arts and Crafts movement. Pugin also wrote that design should have no unnecessary features that contribute nothing to construction or convenience. In addition, he mentioned that the purpose of decoration should be the “enrichment of the essential construction”.
The style of the Arts and Crafts movement does not just cover designs and ideas but also political movement and philosophy. It is a belief that beautiful and well-made objects and things should surround a person and the designer was the craftsman. Inspiration can be borrowed from nature and portrayed in a simplified and stylized way. The patterns are intended to have moving rectilinear lines and also curve lines.
This style can be seen in the Harry Potter movie series which is my favourite part of the movie. It added a mystery and historical sense to the surrounding. The style of Arts and Crafts movement in the architecture and furniture aften make me feel grand and awe。

Method and material used in pop art that does not only limited to manual hand-drawn way but also method like photographic silkscreen printing used by the famous pop art artist Andy Warhol, enabling pop art to be mass-produced and still being a popular art favored by people until today, and differs it from the other art movements.

Opinion: Even though pop art is a very fun and fast eye-catching way to deliver one's idea to the crowd, I don't really like it because it gives an overall feeling of cheap or low cost to the applied product, and makes a design looking superficial.
