SEL is about students regulating their emotions and being able to share how they are feeling. We discuss strategies that can help us depending how we are feeling and utilize the Zones of Regulation. Growth mindset versus fixed mindset is great to teach students about having a positive mindset and being open to more and new ideas. Using positive self-talk. I use it with my elementary special educations students.

Building community and talking about controlling emotions are essential to helping students learn and be successful. Growth mindset is a huge phrase used in our school. It is constantly being referred to throughout all grade levels. We do practice SEL in our school through guidance lessons, growth mindset lessons and daily practice.
