Under NCLB Standardized testing were high-Stake tests. these tests would evaluate teachers and schools. aside from evaluations, the test scores would determine the funding received by schools and administrators. Along these, the possibility of school closure also made standardized testing really high-risk test on both teachers and students. for the students these test often either made the students or ended the students.
Under ESSA, schools are still to assess their students progress annually, there by limiting over testing in students. tests themselves can change due toe ESSA, since they do not have to use state tests for their assessment; they can use other commonly known tests such as SATs and ACTs. Testing is also now doable in computer devices. Although testing is still challenging, it is a step forward when it comes to accountabilit

High Stakes tests were priority in the classroom, but with ESSA schools can use different forms assessment. There are seven leading states that are searching alternative forms of assessment such as portfolios and projects. A pilot program; The Performance Assessment of Competency Education (PACE) is set to replace standard multiple-choice questions for more meaningful tasks that encourage students to apply what they have learned in sophisticated ways and to use critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Technology has changed our classrooms. there are ways that both teachers and students learn that were not available before digital technology. while some of this technology has advanced our methods of learning, many are worried that we rely too much on this technology. Some claim that technology has even changed the way students communicate, there are studies that show young generations losing their ability to socialize. While schools become more reliable in technology there is still a digital divide with students not being able to access these tools from home. Technology might continue to advance, but basic tools should not be forgotten since they are just as useful in a classroom setting.

The first cartoon in this topic shows that there are many variables that come with teaching and getting a good evaluation based on your teaching. what is really controversial about these evaluations is that the people evaluating you or creating the evaluations are not educators and have not set foot in a long time. further more, because of prior legislation, teacher reputation has become a reflection of test scores. in which case if students perform poorly in their tests, then teachers are labeled as ineffective teachers.
