On September eleventh I attended an Artist Talk in Dowd Gallery. First when I got there we listened to a lecture given by Wylie Schwartz and Allison DeDominick. They discussed their time in Italy along with showing us a slideshow of the art. I do not exactly recall where in Italy they were but it was somewhere on the coast that does not get frequent visitors. They were in Italy planning the study abroad trip for this summer, and attending an artist conference. After that, we headed upstairs to listen to two artists talk about their pieces in the gallery. These artists were Hannah Holmes and Sierra Dell. Sierra Dell described her piece which was created on a handkerchief and embroidered. She went on to tell us her inspiration and method. She had hand stitched each stitch very meticulously under the microscope. Her Inspiration came from trying to process the death of her great-grandfather. Hannah Holmes on the other hand used nature as her inspo for her pieces. One piece included vines that she hand crocheted.

On September the 14th I attended the first home football game for the red dragons. I went with my friends Delanie (right) and Leah (middle). It was quite a beautiful day out and me and Leah were quite parched, so we went to the concession stand for water and some popcorn. Upon our arrival back to our seats we discovered that the dragons had scored not one but two touchdowns. It was quite amazing watching a good football team for once, considering my high school team was really bad. Because the team was so good we were compelled to leave at halftime. We were all in the mood for some Starbucks so we went. Delanie was driving us and we went through the drive through since the inside was closed. I got an iced pumpkin chai latte, Leah got a dragonfruit refresher, and Delanie got a strawberry açaí refresher. We were quite pleased with our beverages. Then we hit up subway because we were quite famished. All of our sandwiches were very delicious. It was all around a good day to attend a football game, and there were plenty of people in attendance.

On September the 18th we attended a chemistry club meeting. We were playing a kahoot with chemistry related questions. At first we were trying to play in the lobby of bowers but we couldn't get the screen to work so we all had to relocate into a lecture hall. I didn't do that well on the kahoot, but I was surprised and rather impressed that I actually knew the answers to some of the questions. Unfortunately, some of the questions were in regard to some of the professors in the chem department so I couldn't really answer those. Maybe in the future I will remember so that when we play again I have a chance of winning. There were also a few that I remembered I had learned before but I couldn't recall the answer. I went to this meeting with my friends Delanie and Cordy. They had pizza for us which looked pretty good but I had already eaten so I decided not to have any. Coming from someone who is from Long Island and knows what good pizza is, I would say that the pizza actually looked pretty good. They also discussed the merch options for the club and if we would rather it be a crewneck or a hoodie. I do not recall what the prize for winning the game was but I am pretty sure that it was a Biology major that ended up winning. After we had finished the game my friends Cordy and Delanie requested that I took a picture of them for they had also required a picture for their COR class so I took a picture of them with their TA.

For my social event sponsored by SUNY Cortland I attended the Cortaca pep rally. This was on Friday, November the 15th on Main Street. I attended this with my friends Mollie and Eliza because we thought it would be a cool idea to go and see what was going on. On the walk there it was really cool to see all the banners that students in off campus housing had put up. Upon arriving at the event we had took advantage of the free hot chocolate for it was quite chilly on that night. It felt good to hold a warm beverage. We then decided to hop on the line to get some free stuff where we had to only scan into the event. We received a free t-shirt and items such as clappy hands, beaded necklaces and pom poms. They also hand us some raffle tickets to put in the baskets. After that we decided to go to DP dough for Eliza had never been there, it was cold and we needed time to kill before they drew the raffles. She went simple and just got a cheese calzone. After that we headed back. Unfortunately none of us won anything. But my roommate ended up winning a 43' TV!!! So I suppose by association I technically did win. After that we got our photo taken in a makeshift Photo Booth. It was overall a fun experience.

Not too long ago my friend Delanie and I received an invitation to the science symposium. We had received an email from our bio professor to come and pick up a letter, which turned out to be the invitation that we received because we were in good academic standing. We were not sure if we were going to attend it but we initially decided that we would. This event occurred in bowers in the lecture hall. We listened to different people and professors talk about their research and their background in how they got where they are now. The first lecturer discussed how their are different programs that allow for scholarships to continue a higher up education. In the main lobby of bowers they had tons of different snacks and beverages when it was time to go out of the lecture hall and listen to some students discuss some of their research that they have collected. Overall it was very informative.
