Donald Trump has been a big hypocrite this election. I have found multiple examples of hypocrisy. The first example has to do with the minimum wage in the USA. The Donald has said "I have seen what's going on, and I don't know how people can make it on $7.25." Another quote that goes along with this is "'Taxes too high, wages too high,' he had said when asked about raising the minimum wage. 'We're not going to be able to compete against the modern world. I hate to say it, but we have to leave it the way it is." This is hypocrisy since he has said he wants to raise, but then he said he will leave it as is. Trump thinks he can win this election, but only if he stops being a hypocrite.

Hypocrisy in the Modern World: Part 2

Donald Trump isn't just a hypocrite in one way. He has another issue that has to do with taxes. Donald has said that he wants taxes lowered. The only issue with that is in this quote: "Donald J. Trump declared a $916 million loss on his 1995 income tax returns, a tax deduction so substantial it could have allowed him to legally avoid paying any federal income taxes for up to 18 years, records obtained by The New York Times show." If he wants to lower taxes, he needs to pay them himself. It is not like he didn't have the money, as shown in this quote: "The $916 million loss certainly could have eliminated any federal income taxes Mr. Trump otherwise would have owed on the $50,000 to $100,000 he was paid for each episode of 'The Apprentice,' or the roughly $45 million he was paid between 1995 and 2009 when he was chairman or chief executive of the publicly traded company he created to assume ownership of his troubled Atlantic City casinos." Once again, this shows he is a hypocrite because he has to pay taxes himself to lower them for us americans.

There are some good examples of hypocrisy in Chains as well, but there is one main topic that stands out. It is the freedom the colonists get after winning the war. The rebel soldiers have said that everyone will be free if they win the war, except the slaves. Isabel thinks that her only chance to be free is to join the army, as said in this quote" 'I can cook sir,' I said. 'I can wash, sew, and even doctor the sick a little.' " The thing about this is that she shouldn't have to join the army to be free, especially if the army said they will free everyone. That is an example of hypocrisy.

The Connection Between the Examples

The main connection between the two is that they were both big issues in their respective time periods. The fight for freedom was a hot topic back in the 1770s, and taxes and minimum wage are hot topics nowadays. Almost everyone was thinking and talking about the Revolutionary War back in 1776 or somewhere around there. These days, everyone is talking about taxes, minimum wage, jobs, and stuff like that. The population is talking about the issues that Donald Trump is having with taxes as well. The Revolutionary War was the hot commodity back in the late 1770s, and that is all that people were focused on! That is how the 3 examples are connected.
