The only things girls really knew were house chores.Contrary to men in the sense that they almost always got to have an education. Athenian women had the least amount of rights out of most city-states. Some things they couldn't do are, Serve in any part of the cityś government, including the assembly and juries. Leave their homes except on special occasions, Buy anything or own property or Disobey their husbands and/or fathers. In conclusion, women couldnt have rights by the way of social hierchy viewing them as humans made cook and clean.

In addition to their physical training, Athenian students,unlike the Spartans also learned other skills.

  • Spartan men stayed in the army until they turned 60.
  • Healthy boys were train from an early age to be soldiers.
  • If the baby was not healthy,he was taken outside of the city and left to die.
  • As a part of training,  boys ran, jumped, and threw Javelins to increase their strength.
  • They also learned to endure hardships they would face as soldiers.
  • They didn’t get heavy clothes in winter, much food so often boys were allowed to steal food if they could but if they got caught, they were whipped.
  • The spartans believed that the most important qualities of good soldiers were self discipline and obedience.
  • Soldiers between age 20 and 30 lived in army barracks and only occasionally visited family.
  • Spartan women were also expected to be strong,athletic, and disciplined.
