Paying attention is a determining factor of memory retention, and therefore the ability to draw upon prior knowledge - which is the most efficient way to learn. The beautiful thing about teaching yoga is that it mentally trains students to pay attention. Yoga enhances students' body awareness, demanding concentration and increasing focus. I learned in middle school when I first began extemporaneous teaching: tell the audience what you are going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you told them. :)
