         <title>How do we make digital literacy interest-driven for students? </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The reading emphasized that one of the main ways that we can make digital literacy interest-driven for students is to have learning opportunities that connect with the student’s passions. The examples that were listen in the reading showed how the teachers made opportunities available that went beyond writing an essay for students. The students were engaged, and practiced hands-on skills like actually making a film, creating a blog, or creating a magazine. The collaboration and social aspect of the learning activities actually optimized the learning that was happening in the classroom. Therefore, teacher should incorporate student interests in their lessons so that students can be genuinely involved in their own learning.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>In what ways do student identities impact writing instruction? </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One of the ways that student identities impact writing instruction is by creating writing that is authentic to the student. The voice that the students are expressing in their writing is based on their experiences and the way they navigate the world. Their intersecting identities give each student a lense and perspective of the world, and that translates in their writing. Their writing also allows the students to furthermore develop their voice, and in doing so, they are also developing their identity even more. I believe that we should encourage students to express themselves, and not limit them to the standard or academic English.&nbsp;</div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The main connection that I made from previous readings was Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory of learning. The teachers in the readings focused the activities on participation and interactions between students. The students learned from each other, and they became engaged in their own learning. I get really excited knowing that we can incorporate this level of engagement in a classroom and students will be getting even more benefits from this social approach to learning.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I actually enjoyed using Padlet this week. It felt like I was expressing my thoughts in a journal as opposed to writing a response, and I felt like my ideas flowed more. The process was not complicated at all. The website actually walked me through how to set Padlet up, and it was a breeze. I enjoyed the variety and the different styles that we could use to set up the Padlet. The screencast that Maggie had helped me use Padlet too. I think that I could use this as a tool for my students to write a “weekly report” on something that interests them. I think that this format allows more creativity and flow for writing, and I would like my students to be guided by that. I wouldn’t enforce standard academic English in a format like this so that they feel more freedom of expression when they write.&nbsp;I would allow the students a day in the classroom to just explore with Padlet and see all the different features that they can incorporate, and that way they can teach each other too. </div>]]></description>
