Trump used opinions made to sound like facts, "she had the power and the duty to stop it but she didn't." the reason for this is to tell the audience things that are not entirely true. Furthermore he used triples to reenforce his point and maybe almost exaggerating the point, the evidence of this is "convicted of killing, sexual assault, and some of the most heinous crimes" This creates panic and makes the audience to want to help. Moreover he uses collective first person to reenforce the joint responsibility and how everyone should do something about it, the evidence that support this use of technique is the pronoun "we". The use of this is to inspire the people that this must be done and they have to do it.

Trump uses direct address to allow the listeners feel like they are part of this equation and they can help make a difference in this situation, in the phrase 'if we only enforce the laws against crime', The word 'we' connotes to the listeners that they are part of this and they are the ones who can help Trump and America in a lot of ways. Furthermore the repetition and use of the word 'we' just sparks the attentiveness inside of the listeners even more and he inputs an idea inside of the brains of Americans that if Trump becomes the president everyone will be helping America to become a better country.

In his speech, Trump uses anecdotes to make it seem that the things he claims are happening are actually happening. He uses the phrase "nearly half a million overstayed their temporary visas." He uses 'half a million' instead of outright saying the number with the intent to alarm the reader, as when stated as part of a bigger number, the number sounds bigger, causing listeners to believe that the problem is bigger than it actually is. Further more, he presents the sentence "Whether it’s dangerous materials being smuggled across the border, terrorists entering on visas, or Americans losing their jobs to foreign workers" is presented as an anecdote, in order to make these things seem like they're happening on a scale that may be larger than what it actually is, again, with the intent to alarm the reader. Furthermore, in the phrase "Those released include individuals convicted of killings, sexual assault and some of the most heinous crimes imaginable" he uses emotive language to move the reader and to strike a feeling of vulnerability within them. Overall, the entire intention of the speech is to make the listeners feel vulnerable.

Trump uses exaggeration in his speech to show the audience it is a really big deal. he uses the rule of three for effect in the line 'to ensure assimilation, integration and upward mobility' he wants to show that he is capable of leading them to a better community. in the line 'Together, we can save American lives, American jobs, and American futures. Together, we can save America itself.' this indicates how he shows that they have to work together under him if they want to succeed. it is very motivational since he is using repetition to add a more powerful image.

In the opening of his speech, Trump proclaimed that "Many of these 13,000 releases occurred on Hillary Clinton’s watch – she had the power and the duty to stop it cold and she didn’t do it." Trump believes that Clinton had the power and duty to stop it, but this is just his opinion. He uses the word "duty", this denotes that Trump believes that said "duty" was Clinton's responsibility to stop the releases. But the "duty" that Trump believes should be carried out is subjective. Moreover, Trump uses the statistics "13,000 releases" to mask his opinionated statement and make it sound like a fact.

In Trump's speech he says that "Immigration law doesn’t exist just for the purpose of keeping out criminals. It exists to protect all aspects of American life – the worksite, the welfare office, the education system and much else.". Trump uses various techniques to impose the sense of alarm on the audience. He does this when he says " the worksite, the welfare office, the education system and much else". Trump lists out some of the most important aspects of America in the context of protecting America, and keeping out criminals. And by doing so, constructs a world where these fundamental features of America are subject to illegal and detrimental influences.

'We must send the message that visa expiration dates will be strongly enforced.' 'we' is collectively saying this is our responsibility to change it. The word "if" connotes that you could prevent this from happening by doing something to help. Furthermore, he also used statistics to alarm the audience in the phrase "Last year alone, nearly a half a million individuals overstayed their temporary visas."

Within Trump's speech addressing immigration in the USA, he used direct address in order to enhance his listener's interest as it directly addresses them. This is evident in the phrase and personal pronoun, " We must send the message that visa expiration dates will be strongly enforced." This is intended to spark and enhance interest within the listener as it directly addresses them. This may also urge them to get them involved in Trump's endeavour as he is including the nation within his endeavour and not just him and his administration. Furthermore, Trump uses imperative command within his speech to further involve and enhance the listener within his endeavour. This is evident in the phrase, "We must send the message that visa expiration dates will be strongly enforced." The verb must, which is the direct imperative command, leaves no room for question in whether the reason participates in Trump's and his administration's endeavour which additionally, forces and encourages the listener's to participate.

Trump uses personal pronouns and statistics to panic the audience (We’ve admitted 59 million immigrants to the United States between 1965 and 2015.) The use of personal pronouns (we) creates feelings of inclusion directed at the listeners of Trump's speech, Trump uses those feelings of inclusion to convince the audience that they are important and 'need to do their part', although it may not be that way, as the government are really the people who have been letting people immigrate. The use of statistics in Trump's speech can concern the listeners due to how big the numbers seem (We’ve admitted 59 million immigrants to the United States ) - immigrants are still a minority in the US (only about 14.4% of the population are actually immigrants)

Trump uses triples in his speech to reinforce his points and highlight the current crisis' in the United States which makes the people realise what needs to change/what the current situation is. Trump states "the result will be millions more illegal migrants, thousands more violent crimes, and a total chaos and lawlessness.” Here he used a triple to state three of the main problems society focuses on.

Trump also often refers to Hillary Clinton in the second person, this might take away the power of her name and sounds accusatory of what she could have done and what he could do better than her.

Furthermore, Trump manipulates his speech to sound like they are undivided. To do so, he uses conditional tense. This adds a now or never type of effect on the audience. He is territorial about the United States and convinces the citizens to come together.
" If we only enforce the laws against crime, then we have an open border to the entire world." Here Trump used conditional tense, Trump utilized an "if" situation to express the possible outcomes, if action is not taken. He also uses direct address for a more consolidated circumstance.
The collectivity expressed in the word "we" ,suggests that he is not thinking for himself only, but for the benefit of the United States and the society.

Trump applies repetition throughout his entire speech, "we are in the middle of a jobs crisis, a border crisis, and a terrorism crisis." is an example of this. Trump reuses the noun 'crisis' to help emphasize and fix in his listener's mind about his point on what is happening to America. Moreover, various amounts of statistics is placed all through the entirety of his speech. Using statistics adds a shock value. Like seen along the lines of "62 percent of households headed by illegal immigrants". Additionally, pointing the blame at one is quite an habitual act for Trump which can be seen in the line "we deserve answers from Hillary Clinton.". There is a mixed use of direct address, as Trump was speaking straight to his audience, and opinion as he believes Hillary Clinton owes him, along with many others, some acknowledgement.
