사보원은 공공부조와 사회서비스, 보육, 돌봄, 공공보건 등에 대한 방대한 사회보장 데이터를 구축, 사회복지 정책 수립과 학술연구 등에 활용하고 있다. 빅데이터와 AI기술을 접목하여 복지 사각지대나 아동학대 등 위험에 처한 위기 집단을 발굴하고, 이상결제탐지시스템(FDS) 분석을 통해 복지급여 부정수급 예방에도 기여하고 있다.

앞으로 사회보장 빅데이터 개방을 확대해 사회보장 수요를 예측하고, 제도 도입 타당성 평가 등 다양한 실증연구에도 활용할 수 있도록 할 예정이다. 또한 AI 기술을 초기상담에 확대 적용해 업무 효율성을 높이고 AI 분석모형을 정교화하여 복지 사각지대 해소와 맞춤형 복지서비스 제공을 위해 더욱 노력할 것이다.
