Why is this place in the neighbourhood special?

- Spent 6 years in Xingnan Primary and Juying Primary thus, many memories are formed.

- Go to Juying Secondary every week day and able to meet all their friends

- Very convenient. Have many cheap and fresh groceries. eg. Watermelon is very juicy. One of the residents love to buy and at the Watermelons sold here.

- Very convenient for the resident to exercise and able to hang out with their friends as it is suitable for everyone from different ages and culture.

- Spent the resident whole childhood in the playground. The resident said that he/she love going to the playground to play sand with her friends.

- Very convenient. Fresh groceries to buy.

- Convenient for the resident to see the doctor

- Convenient for the resident to cut or style their hair as it is quite cheap as well

- Very convenient and the food there is good too

- Lots of activities available in the community centre

- They lived here from to 25 years (based on the residents we interviewed)

- All of them are Chinese (based on the residents we interviewed)

- All of them are Singaporeans except for a Taiwanese

- The are all very friendly, helpful and willing to be interviewed

- Some residents may say places not in the Nanyang Neighbourhood are special to them even though we emphasized it to be in the neighbourhood. It may be because they always pass through that place everyday and may think that place is in the neighburhood.

- There are many places in the neighbourhood that different residents feel special.

- There are different feelings for different places in the neighbourhood from different residents due to age groups and memories.

We found out that different people have different areas in the neighbourhood that they feel differently. If we can do this investigation again, we hope to be able to interview together as most of us have SYF on the actual Investigation date and we have to do it differently but because of that we actually get to interview more people as we go at a different day. We also hope to interview more people of different age groups and races. We learn to be more courageous to approach people and also learn to clean the neighbourhood clean as it is a very special place for the residents.
