This paper summarizes how the whooping cough disease cases has become increasingly higher in recent years. The virulence of the bacteria Bordetella Pertussis is involved in this process as the paper states that this could be the cause of these increased numbers. The vaccine for this disease has been show to be less effective in the more recent years due to this increased virulence of the bacteria.

As much has yet to be discovered about the bacteria Prevotella Denticola, it has been found that is is involved with infections inside of the oral cavity. This paper talks about a patient having wisdom teeth extracted and later having issues CNS issues. The issues were linked to this bacteria that were later linked to the wisdom teeth being extracted. This paper describes Prevotella as having low virulency and are commonly found in infections with tooth extractions or abscesses. This will allow the infection to reach other tissues as found in the patient. This can be treated as a normal infection as long as it is not extremely severe.

The oral microbiome is a really interesting part of the body because it can really effect the body in some positive ways, but can really hurt the body in many negative ways. Most of the bacteria found in the mouth are considered good bacteria and are important for protection. Dr. Eisen in the TED Talk is informing us that the microbial community is very important and we need to be safe with how we take the medications provided. When the good bacteria in the body are killed off, this makes the body extremely vulnerable. This leads to many other underlying effects. The "bad" bacteria is what is causing infections and diseases in the body. This is the time that the medications should be taken because if not treated, then it will lead to many other issues. The testing for these diseases is really amazing. These bacteria can be detected by sequencing the 16s rRNA and enter the genetic sequence into databases to determine what bacteria is present. This is very important because it will lead to correct diagnoses a specific disease. Bordetella Pertussis is a very important bacteria as it is very commonly studied. This is the bacteria that causes whooping cough and has been an increasing issue in todays world due to the vaccine not being as affective. This is important because it mostly is found in babies and these babies are very susceptible to diseases. Prevotella Denticola has yet to be studied much. It is known that it is commonly found in the oral cavity and when the body is infected with this bacteria it can move to other parts of the body. This is very important because it has been show to cause many issues if not treated properly.
