California Supreme Court ruled that Orange County had to desegregate their schools.

California's governor Earl Warren signed an order that repealed all school segregation in the state. He also was chief of justice when the case grown v. Board of education came before the Supreme Court in 1954. This matches the theme because Warren was fighting for freedom for Black people, and desegregation likely would not have happened without him; and he did this before they could become a political party.

The result of Brown V. Board of education was met with massive resistance. A large number of counties closed schools instead of integrating them. States like Alabama and SC flew the confederate flag over their state capital buildings instead.

This goes with the theme because there was a huge difference in response between political parties. This was a huge change and adjustment for everyone, and this time period was super intense in America.

1963 Demonstration

The civil rights movement successfully brought legislative change. The demonstrations of 1963 push JFK to support civil rights more actively. JFK went on TV and called on Congress to pass a lot. That would ban discrimination at all public accommodations.

The goes with the theme because JFK being the president and supporting the civil rights movement gives a substantial backing to Black people, and gives a safe space for the Black people in JFK's political party.

George W Bush ran as a compassionate conservative. He organized a coalition of religious people and fiscal conservatives. Bush won the electoral vote and Gore won the popular vote by 500k.

This matches the theme because Bush was over a major conservative and religious political party. He made a lot of his promises, values and decisions as a president based off of him being a conservative Christian.
