Hello Scholars,
My daughter made this thankful turkey for me! You might even want to make one yourself! She cut out feather-shaped pieces of colored paper and spelled out all the things she was thankful for! It's hanging on the wall of our home right now. I love looking at the bright colored turkey feathers whenever I walk by and the cute googly eyes make me smile. The little orange triangle makes a perfect beak but what is the red thing hanging near the turkey's mouth. Did my daughter mean to attach it to the turkey's face? Was it a mistake? It's so strange. What do you think? What's that red thing on the turkey? I'm curious! That's the question we're going to ask ourselves today - What's that red thing on the turkey. Let's get started!

In today's lesson, you learned why in some bird species the male looks so different from the female. By looking closely at turkeys you were able to observe details of turkey feathers and use that information to make a claim if a bird was a male or female. Today you will label the parts of a turkey and explain to me how you know which labels provide evidence in determining which turkey is a male and which is a female.
