A little Taste of Spain

One of my favourite Spanish dishes is paella — especially when it’s homemade over an open flame. I’ll never forget the first time I tried it in Valencia: the smoky aroma hit me before I even sat down. The rice was perfectly al dente, soaking up the rich saffron-infused broth, and the crispy socarrat at the bottom added a delicious crunch. Each bite was a burst of savoury, slightly salty seafood and sweet red pepper. The prawns were tender, the mussels juicy, and the flavours blended beautifully. There’s something deeply comforting about paella — it’s hearty, vibrant, and always reminds me of long summer lunches with friends and family. No two paellas taste the same, and that’s part of the magic.

So a Schnitzel is a Food that you must have eaten it when you were there. A typical German schnitzel is usually a breaded and fried cut of meat, most commonly made from pork (called Schweineschnitzel), though sometimes it’s made with veal or turkey. It’s similar to the Wiener Schnitzel, but differs in the type of meat and in the preparation. And I love schnitzel because I think you can always eat it and it tastes great with fries. You have to try it!

The Portuguese egg tart looks small and simple, but it is a significant dish in Macao. It mixes different textures and tastes in a bite. When you take your first bite of it, the outside is crispy. The pastry is light and crunchy in your mouth. The creamy filling is smooth and soft, similar to pudding but thicker. It tastes sweet with a little bit of vanilla and egg. Some tarts even have a hint of cinnamon, which riches the flavor of it. The top of the tart is slightly burnt in a good way. That little bit of caramelised sugar highlights the egg tart.

It’s a typical dish of Rome, the capital city of Italy. Spaghetti is the most common pasta, but also bucatini and rigatoni are sometimes used. Around the world there are many version of pasta carbonara, for example it’s also common to use parmigiano, pancetta or cream. As with many recipes, the origins of the dish and its name are obscure. For me pasta carbonara is one of the most delicious pastas in the world. All the ingredients are mixed perfectly and this gives it a nice flavour. My favourite version is the original one with spaghetti because i love them.

Ludovica

Fish balls are loved by millions of Hong Kongers and foreigners. It is famous for it's savoury taste and it's round shape. The fish balls are made of fish and mixed in curry, which differs from Japanese and Indian curry, allowing it to have a unique taste on its own. The curry might also be super spicy or just mild with a bit of sweetness. From it's popularity, it is no wonder why fish balls are sold everywhere in Hong Kong, for example Street vendors and food stands. The size of the fish balls are also varies, where in the most of Hong Kong, the fish balls are in smaller bite-sized, but whereas in Cheung Chau, it comes with a larger size of fish balls. When I traveled to the UK, I got homesick and missed eating fish balls. Therefore a bought one bowl of fish balls, unaware of the price which cost me 8 pounds, which it cost just 1 pound in Hong Kong. This shows that it is valuable when you are homesick.
