The second session focused on the topic "The Secret of Knowledge", highlighting how knowledge shapes perspectives, drives progress, and enables informed decision-making. Even though our second Usrah session was held on Google Meet due to unforeseen circumstances, I still managed to gain some benefits from it.

We watched this youtube video to get some knowledge.

https://youtu.be/SL5NehGHcVQ?si=n0ERscR-M7lyW_30

One phrase that resonated deeply with me from the video we watched was:
"Knowledge is that which benefits, not that which is memorized."

This reminded me of the importance of seeking beneficial knowledge and applying it in our lives.

May Allah SWT guide all of us to the right path, InshaAllah.

As part of the session, we also created word clouds to reflect on the topic and share our insights with one another.

It was a meaningful and interactive way to connect and learn together.

One of my favorite Qur'anic verses is:

فَإِذَا أَنزَلۡنَا عَلَيۡهَا ٱلۡمَآءَ ٱهۡتَزَّتۡ وَرَبَتۡ وَأَنۢبَتَتۡ مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِيجٍ۬
"But when We send down upon it rain, it quivers and swells and grows [something] of every beautiful kind."
(Surah Al-Hajj, 22:5)

This verse reminds me of how Allah SWT brings life to barren lands, allowing beautiful flowers and plants to bloom. It’s a powerful metaphor for how Allah revives our hearts with faith, hope, and guidance, even during times of despair.

During the session, we reflected on verses that resonate deeply with us. For me, this verse symbolizes renewal, growth, and the beauty that comes from Allah’s mercy and blessings.

WISHES AND REFLECTIONS

This usrah journey has been an enriching and transformative experience. From the very first session, I felt welcomed and inspired by the diversity of thoughts and perspectives within our group.

Every session has been a reminder of the strength of our faith and the importance of supporting one another on this journey.

One of the most meaningful moments was when we reflected on the Pillars of Iman, especially our belief in Malaikah (angels), which deepened my understanding of the unseen world and the importance of having faith in Allah's wisdom.

The sessions on knowledge and spiritual growth challenged me to not only memorize but to apply the teachings in my daily life.

The highlight of this experience was the Secret Sahabah gift exchange and the closing ceremony. It was a beautiful gesture of kindness and a reminder that small acts of thoughtfulness can strengthen the bond we share as a community. The photography session allowed us to capture these memories, which I will cherish forever.

Through this usrah, I have learned so much about strengthening my relationship with Allah SWT. I deepened my knowledge of tajwid, which has helped me recite the Qur'an more beautifully and with better understanding. I also practiced incorporating Dua Rābitah and istighfar into my daily routine, which has brought me a sense of peace and closeness to Allah SWT.

This usrah has not only enriched my understanding of Islamic principles but also encouraged me to implement these teachings into my daily life. The friendships, lessons, and shared reflections have left a lasting impact on my heart.

However, I believe there are a few areas where we could improve to make our usrah even more engaging and beneficial. More interactive discussions could be incorporated to encourage everyone’s participation, and perhaps we could have more practical activities that apply the topics discussed in real-life scenarios.

Additionally, it would be wonderful to have more face-to-face interactions in future sessions, as they foster a deeper connection and allow for a more personal exchange of ideas and experiences.

Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Naqibah, Sister Farihah, our usrah leader, for her guidance, patience, and support throughout this journey. Her dedication and wisdom have truly made a difference in this usrah, and I am deeply thankful for all the effort she put into making each session meaningful and enriching for all of us.

Overall, I am grateful for the chance to learn and grow with my fellow sisters. This usrah has inspired me to continue seeking knowledge, developing a stronger connection with Allah, and supporting those around me.

I look forward to applying the lessons I’ve learned and hope to continue this journey of self-improvement, InshaAllah.

In session 2, we reflected on the Reasons and Sources of Hikmah from Ibadah.

Firstly, Ṣalāh helps us stay connected to Allah throughout our day. It teaches discipline, brings inner peace, and reminds us that this world is temporary.

Fasting during Ramadhan (Ṣawm) increases our taqwa and helps us learn patience and control. It also reminds us to be grateful and empathetic towards those who struggle daily with hunger.

Next, Zakāh purifies our wealth. It teaches us to share and care, helping to build a just and supportive community by reducing poverty and selfishness.

Lastly, Ḥajj brings millions of Muslims together regardless of race or status. It's a powerful reminder of our purpose in life, equality before Allah, and the importance of humility and gratitude.

All of these acts are not just rituals, they are full of wisdom meant to transform our hearts, habits, and society.

In Session 2, we had a fun and meaningful group activity. Each group was given one of the Pillars of Islam to focus on. Our task was to illustrate a day in our life that shows appreciation for the assigned pillar.

Our group was assigned the pillar of Ḥajj.

Even though we are not currently performing the actual pilgrimage, we can still appreciate it in our daily lives. For example, we imagined a day where we study the rituals of Ḥajj, practice how to wear iḥrām, and recite the Talbiyah (Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik). We also reflected on the meanings behind each step of the journey and how it reminds us of our journey toward Allah.

This activity helped us realize that every act of worship carries deep wisdom (ḥikmah), and we can embody its spirit even outside the actual performance.

In Session 4, we focused on the virtues found in Salah with Khushu'.

We began with niyyah, the sincere intention in our heart before we pray. It may not be spoken aloud, but it's the foundation of a meaningful connection with Allah. Without niyyah, an act is just movement, not worship.

Then we talked about khushūʿ which is the state of humility, focus, and full presence during prayer. It’s not just about stillness in body, but stillness in heart. Salah done with khushūʿ has the power to soften our hearts and keep us away from sins.

We also learned that Salah teaches discipline. Praying five times a day on time helps us to manage our day with purpose and responsibility.

Another virtue is that Salah washes away sins, just like regular washing cleans the body. It’s a chance to start fresh every day.

Lastly, Salah brings emotional peace and spiritual comfort. No matter how busy or stressed we are, prayer gives us a moment to reconnect and feel calm.

These virtues remind us that Salah isn’t just a ritual but it’s a gift from Allah to strengthen our faith, character, and heart.

In Session 5, we reflected on the virtues found in Sawm, or fasting, especially during the month of Ramadhan.

The greatest virtue is taqwa to becoming more conscious of Allah. As mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 183, fasting is prescribed so that we may attain taqwa. It teaches us to think twice before we act, knowing Allah is watching.

We also discussed how fasting teaches self-control and patience. From sunrise to sunset, we hold ourselves back—not just from food, but also from negative behaviors like lying or anger.

Fasting builds empathy. When we feel hunger, we understand the pain of those in need. This makes us more grateful for our blessings and more willing to help others.

Another powerful virtue is spiritual purification. Fasting helps us disconnect from worldly distractions and focus more on dhikr, prayer, and the Qur’an. It’s a time to reconnect with our purpose.

Finally, fasting brings immense reward. Allah Himself says that “Fasting is for Me, and I will reward it.” It is a deeply personal act of worship with a reward beyond measure.

Alhamdulillah, fasting is not just about abstaining but it’s a training of the heart, mind, and soul.

In Session 6, we learned about the deep virtues of Ḥajj and ʿUmrah.

We began by reflecting on how Ḥajj teaches us complete submission to Allah. Every action, from the iḥrām to the tawāf, shows how we leave behind the dunya and follow Allah's command sincerely.

We also learned that Ḥajj and ʿUmrah bring immense spiritual cleansing. The Prophet ﷺ said that those who perform a proper Ḥajj return free from sins like a newborn. SubḥānAllāh, what a mercy!

Another beautiful aspect is the unity. People from all races, languages, and countries come together wearing the same simple clothing, saying the same Talbiyah. It reminds us that in the sight of Allah, we are all equal.

There are also huge rewards in performing Ḥajj and ʿUmrah, especially with the right intention. Even ʿUmrah during Ramadan is said to carry the reward of Ḥajj.

Lastly, the experience humbles us which it reminds us that this world is temporary, and our real home is the hereafter.

This session reminded us that even if we haven’t gone for Ḥajj yet, we can still carry its spirit in our daily lives: submission, patience, humility, and unity.

In Session 6, we had our group presentation titled “Sabr as a Student.” Our aim was to highlight how patience plays a crucial role in every aspect of student life.

We began by discussing sabr in seeking knowledge, explaining how learning requires dedication and struggle just like the great scholars who spent years in study with patience.

Then we talked about sabr in dealing with people, how controlling our reactions is a sign of strength, and how patience builds healthier relationships.

Time management is another key area. Sabr helps us maintain routines, avoid procrastination, and stay calm when things don’t go as planned, guided by the message in Surah Al-‘Asr.

We also focused on sabr in worship and good character, reminding ourselves to stay consistent and not give up easily, even when it's tough.

Lastly, we shared how sabr helps us face failures. Mistakes aren’t the end, they're a way to grow. What matters is our effort and trust in Allah’s plan.

Alhamdulillah, this presentation helped us reflect on how sabr is not just a word—it’s a way of life, especially as students.

In Session 7, Our final Usrah session, was a little different but very meaningful. Sr. Ainin, our naqibah, generously gave us the entire session to focus on completing our e-portfolio. She didn’t just leave us to it, she was there the whole time, ready to help anyone who needed guidance or clarification.

It really showed her dedication and how much she cared about our learning experience. Throughout all our sessions, Sr. Ainin was warm, kind, and engaging. She made every class feel light, yet full of value and we truly appreciate her effort and sincerity.

This last session also gave us a quiet moment to reflect on everything we’ve learned about sabr, salah, sawm, time management, and more. It reminded us how much we've grown, not just as students, but as Muslims.

Alhamdulillah for this journey, and may Allah reward Sr. Ainin and all of us for our efforts.
