The letters were about the issues from their time and from the letters they communicated from far away. They often debated topics and in which they were of opposite sides of in their letters. And were close friends despite the differences between them. The letters are cherished today and are well regarded pieces of literature.  This relates to Fahrenheit because it points out the contrast between Mildred and Guy. Mildred values is materialistic while Guy is a romantic craving something more.
